Freedom Day Care Nursery & Freedom Pre-School Caring and highly trained staff, in a safe, nurturing and enabling environment, for your babies and children Sickness Policy We are required to consider the Health and Safety of all the children in our care and therefore we must insist that parents do not bring their children when sick or infectious. Sufferer should keep feet covered. This is the minimum length of time your child must not attend the nursery. However, these exclusion periods are the time the child is considered infectious e.g., a risk to others. The list does not specify how long it will take the child to recover and cannot be used as an indication of when the child will be well enough to attend the childcare setting. Therefore parents should not bring their child to the childcare setting at the end of the exclusion period unless their child is sufficiently recovered from the symptoms/conditions and fully able to participate in our daily routine. If you are in any doubt as to whether we can care for your child please telephone beforehand explaining their symptoms and we will let you know whether we are prepared to admit your child on that particular day, having considered the other children. Please don’t turn up with a potentially infectious child and expect us to make a snap decision on the doorstep. We must STRESS this again -if you are unsure whether or not it is okay to bring your child, please call ahead to ask us. We may require a doctor's decision as to whether or not the child is contagious. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter. If a child should become ill whilst in our care we will contact you or your designated Emergency contact and will expect the child to be collected within one hour. If you work a long way away we suggest you may need a back up plan of somebody who could collect your child in the event of illness, this would be detailed on your registration form. If your child is not attending due to illness please endeavour to ring the nursery before 10 am to let us know about their absence and expected date of return. Updated April 2012
