The Highland Street AmeriCorps Ambassadors of Mentoring is an AmeriCorps Program where members serve in mentoring programs across Massachusetts. Organizational Description: Mass Mentoring Partnership (MMP) is fueling the movement to expand empowering youth-adult relationships to meet the needs of communities across Massachusetts. We work with mentoring programs and youth development organizations to assess programmatic needs and organizational capacity to provide customized strategies that strengthen youth, families, and communities. Mass Mentoring Partnership’s AmeriCorps program, the Highland Street Corps Ambassadors of Mentoring, is currently recruiting 25 Ambassadors for the 2015-2016 program year, which begins on January, 2016 and runs through July, 2016. AmeriCorps Ambassadors complete one half year of service at a host organization in Massachusetts. Tutoring Plus is a local nonprofit that provides free tutoring and mentoring programs for students in grades 3-12. Our mission is to support and encourage the academic, personal and social growth of children and youth in Cambridge with the help of volunteers and community partners. We were founded in 1964 by a group of neighborhood mothers and continue to primarily serve the Port/Area 4 neighborhood. Program Summary & Responsibilities: The Enrichment Curriculum Coordinator will support the development of Tutoring Plus’ enrichment programs and social-emotional curriculum. This person will be instrumental in creating a strong curricula foundation for several programs. Responsibilities include: 1) Developing hands-on, engaging curriculum for Tutoring Plus’s STEAM enrichment programs, including Math Plus and I Build; 2) Facilitating at least one weekly session of Math Plus program from March-May; 3) Providing administrative and program support for the Girls’ Media enrichment program; and 4) Developing curriculum for social-emotional and cultural competency education in our one-on-one programs. Essential Functions of the Position (required): Research and develop engaging, project-based curriculum plans for two enrichment programs: Math Plus and I Build Facilitate sessions for Math Plus enrichment program Assist with administrative tasks related to Girls’ Media enrichment program, including but not limited to, tracking registration forms, creating flyers, and tracking attendance Provide support to staff, volunteers, and Peer Leaders throughout Girls’ Media enrichment program Page 1 Create content and strategies for introducing additional social-emotional and cultural competency curriculum into one-on-one middle school programs Document all curriculum development and processes for institutional knowledge Be able to complete a minimum of 950 hours of documented service to successfully complete host site project Complete all required AmeriCorps documentation and monthly reporting Complete at least 1 collaborative community service project to benefit the field of mentoring outside the host site Maintain a service portfolio Must be able to commute to all corps-wide trainings and events to cultivate future non-profit leaders.
