Small Business Federal Contractor Conference Awards Full-Scholarships
Washington Days Conference May 6-7, 2013
Washington, D.C. (April 30, 2013) Federal Allies Institute is pleased to announce two Howard University
students have been awarded full-scholarships to attend Washington Days Conference 2013. Recipients
are Brianna McIlwain and Gordon O. Henry.
The Federal Allies Institute scholarships were publicized by many universities and national media and
asked to apply by Sunday, April 28, 2013. Applicants were notified on Tuesday, April 30, 2013.
The scholarship recipient must be in the early stages of federal contracting. Entrepreneurs and
entrepreneurial students may apply. Science and technology students offering innovative technology
solutions are encouraged to apply.
On Monday, May 6 the conference is to be held at the Holiday Inn Capitol, 550 C Street, NW, Washington,
D.C. 20024, to focus on business development opportunities and federal Mentor Protégé programs.
Speakers include a Who’s Who of national experts. Meeting formats to include panel discussions, general
sessions, one-on-one business development meetings, networking meals and networking receptions.
On Tuesday, May 7 the conference begins at Rayburn House Office Building on Capitol Hill and focuses on
the Federal Allies Institute small business legislative slate and House and Senate office meetings.
The Federal Allies Institute will award certificates for Mentor Protégé and Washington Representative upon
successful course completion.
Participants include Defense Logistics Agency, Fort Belvoir, U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Department
of Homeland Security, and Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman Corporation, as well as U.S. Small
Business Administration, U.S. Agency for International Development, U.S. Department of State, and
National Geographical Intelligence Agency, and Social Security Administration, General Services
Administration and Environmental Protection Agency as well as Howard County Maryland BRAC affecting
Fort Meade and National Security Agency. Participants and sponsors include The ClayGroup LLC, Quality
Support Inc., Trillacorpe Construction, ArdentMC, C2 Solutions Group, and Five Star Tax and Business
Solutions, XcelHR, and Chain Bridge Bank. More include Insperity, Avanti Corporation, DSCI Corporation,
HADPRO, Federal Schedules, Women Impacting Public Policy and Mid America Government Industry
Coalition.
In addition to business development opportunities participants will be encouraged to provide comments for
rulemaking on recent changes to Mentor Protégé programs resulting from the National Defense
Authorization Act signed into law January 3, 2013 by President Barack Obama.
