In this third edition FLASHBACK strengthens its cultural identity investigating market segments currently undervalued. Many of the galleries (that deal with the 1900s) present, in fact, a major program related to Italian art of the first half of the XX century. An important overview by authors belonging to Futurism as Carrà, Russolo and Severini, to metaphysical painting as De Chirico, Savinio and De Pisis passing from magic realism of Casorati and through the experience of the Six of Turin (Boswell , Chessa, Galante, Levi, Menzio and Paulucci) till the New Front of the Arts and the Group of Eight (Afro, Corpora, Moreni, Morlotti, Turcato, Vedova, Birolli, Santomaso). A particular emphasis will be given to the work of Carol Rama, whom since the forties created works of extraordinary intensity. Also this year FLASHBACK shows a great ancient art proposal, which is the very heart of FLASHBACK and that, as in past editions, will present a real atlas of art history, covering all eras, artistic expressions and geographical areas, ranging from Eastern art (from China Sung dynasty of the XII century to Japan Edo period and to the XX century separé and their abstract patterns) to ancient and modern sculpture from the XII century up to the XX century. Always significant is the presence of painting, from the Italian and Flemish Primitives to Renaissance with an important insight into the world of Brueghel. FLASHBACK special projects are several, among which the exhibition LIFE IN AN ARCHIVE in which the archive is described as an initiative that comes from observing and collecting, sometimes randomly, and then transforms into a project that engages a whole life often delivering its baton to the future; SIMULACRA, the exhibition of sculptures that accompany the visitor in the external path that leads to the fair; and the project room NOTHING TO SEE NOTHING TO HIDE, where the protagonists will be the works of the masters of the Italian avant-garde movements of the seventies. After the confirmation of its second edition the fair is preparing the 2015 appointment strong of its 12,000 visitors recorded in 2014 and of the excellent results on the sales side. FLASHBACK is back with new graphics - this year “orange” - and in setting, which will use in new ways both the interiors (foyer and balcony) and the external areas of Pala Isozaki. Enriched is the daily program that, besides the talks, will show new exhibitions a video art projection and a program of musical performances even richer and more engaging. The 2015 theme of the program will be the concept of energy and it will develop around the relationship between art and life. Based on an analysis of the social and economic context in which artistic expression develops, the program aims to analyze the role and figure of the artist inserted in society, from antiquity to the present day. Objective of the appointments and special projects will help to grasp the communicative value and significance of art as an inclusive and not exclusive phenomenon, thanks to the efforts of historians and critics. The Exhibitors FLASHBACK remains faithful to its vocation as a “niche fair” that presents the excellence of ancient and modern art thanks to the selection of the best galleries on the art system. In this third edition 35 are the choosen galleries. Nine are new entries: Caviglia of Maroggia, Canton Ticino (specialized in ceramics, porcelain and European glass); Caretto & Occhinegro, Turin, founded by Francesco Occhinegro and Massimiliano Caretto (among the youngest European galleriest of ancient art); the Roman Aleandri Modern Art (drawings of the twentieth century); Roccatre Art Gallery (specialized in Informal Art and on The ) and Art Center La Tesoriera (a special project on Felice Casorati); Enrico Frascione (historical antiques gallery in Florence); Osart Gallery in Milan (conceptual art of the sixties and seventies); Arcuti Fine Art in Rome; Butterfly Fine Art Institute, Lugano (CH). The exhibitions Two exhibitions and a project room enrich the cultural program of Flashback's third edition. The themes of collecting and preservation of art, from an historical and social perspective, are the core of the project LIFE IN AN ARCHIVE. The exhibition, which starts from the question "Why an archive? When does the need to collect, to document and to catalog start? ", will be structured as a journey through time and space, as well as the entire FLASHBACK project. SIMULACRA is the exhibition of sculptures that will be set up in the spaces outside of Pala Isozaki (this year in addition to the access of via Philadelphia there will also be an open access from Corso Sebastopoli) and it is curated by the cultural Association NEKS. The works are linked to the program of this third edition: free energy and the combination of art and life, focusing on the urgent issue of the relationship between man and environment. The exhibition includes internationally renowned artists including Aldo Mondino (1938-2005), a bronze sculpture of 1989 called Ortisei, Luigi Mainolfi (1948), a large pyramid of 1990 and Antonio Violetta (1953), consecrated in 1982 by Documenta 7 in Kassel, which exposes here Sound, a painted terracotta. Alongside them, the works of some of the historical figures of the sculpture of the twentieth century as Sandro Cherchi (1911-1998), one of the founders, in 1938, of the artistic movement "Corrente"; Augusto Perez (1929-2000), often celebrated in solo exhibitions at the Venice Biennale; Franco Garelli (1909-1973), famous for scoring public sculptures for the RAI headquarters in Turin (1969) and for the Region of Piedmont (1972), and Roberto Terracini (1900-1976), author of high profile who participated in various editions of the Venice Biennale and the Rome Quadriennale. There are, finally, emerging authors such as The Bounty Killart collective, founded in 2002 by Walter James, Rocco D'Emilio, Biolatti Dionigi, Marco Orazi, and Allis Filliol, the duo of Andrea Respino and Davide Gennaro, in addition to the young Calmistro Nicholas (1993), which features a sculpture carved from the trunk of an olive tree in which a speaker reproduces sound as a beating heart. The project room NOTHING TO SEE NOTHING TO HIDE, by Luca Tomio, is dedicated to the Italian avantgarde of the second half of the sixties, with works by Alighiero Boetti, Gino De Dominicis, Luigi Ontani, Giulio Paolini, Michelangelo Pistoletto Emilio Prini, Salvo, Mario Schifano. The project takes its title from the homonymous work of Boetti exhibited in 1969 at the Galleria Sperone in Turin, a work that is the zero degree of the image and its research. An exhibition that celebrates as the poetic avant-garde and the fine line between the visible and the invisible. The daily program Rich is also the conversation program, that, even more than the past years, will be central in developing the content of FLASHBACK. It will be about art and life and their mutual exchange of energy, with focus on the evolution of the artist’s role in society, as well as the figure of the gallery owner and Collector, also from a generational perspective. Other issues at the center of the meetings will be the relationship between art and environment, a focus on anthropology and ethnology / ethnography and a comparison between the teaching of art history in Italy and around the world. The conversations will see the participation as speakers of art historians, artists, gallery owners, representatives of major foundations and cultural institutions, journalists, teachers and art consultants, always with a crosscut ranging from ancient to the most contemporary. The program will then be supplemented by something new: the exhibition KINETIC ENERGY: Avant-garde cinema or video art ?, consisting of film screenings from the Twenties to today. Works by Man Ray, Fernand Leger, Hans Richter, Viking Eggeling, Marcel Duchamp, Walter Ruttmann, René Clair, Bill Viola and others. To enrich a program that does not neglect any form of artistic expression is then ENERGY SOUND: a program of musical performances about Baroque, opera and avant-garde music which range seamlessly from the past to the present. Furthermore the project of visual artist Alessandro Bulgini, FLASHBACK is Opera Viva which reached its third edition, together with guided tours FLASHBACK storytelling. New however is the free art advisory service and the Workshops Program, for children aged 6 to 13 years, dedicated specifically to the active knowledge and awareness of cultural heritage.
