Tara Jalali Accomplishments can be made by very different types of people who manage to be successful through different methods. While being allowed to do things our own way has possibilities for success, there is a great deal of detriment that is combined with it. Accomplishing more on your own can be unrealistic, and it can also create further problems for the future. Doing things your own way can work if you include assistance rather than attempting to face a problem head-on. Therefore, through the use of allies, having accomplishments occur through your own devices could involve greater reward. When Martin Luther King Jr. wanted to make a stand on civil rights, he did invoke some parts of his argument through his own way. However, his major statements involved the help of many different people, and even more people became involved when he began to gain followers. His famous “I Have a Dream” speech in Washington, DC would not be nearly as “famous” if he did not have the support of thousands of people at his feet. If Martin Luther King Jr. attempted to accomplish his struggles his own way by himself, then his impact would have never reached the multitude that it did. However, if he did choose to rely on other people, his message would have not been the same. It was only through the combined effort of his strong form of leadership, as well as the help and support from many friends, family members, and supporters, which allowed him to accomplish so much through his own way. Another famous American icon, Theodore Roosevelt, was a sole example on a person who got things done through his own directions. Theodore Roosevelt was known for being a gregarious, charismatic leader. His forceful leadership through the crisis between Russia and Japan not only won him the Nobel Peace Prize, but also made him one of the most successful Presidents in American history. Like Martin Luther King Jr., Roosevelt had a very clear plan on what he wanted to do. He didn’t want to do things according to other people, and he brought prosperity to the country through the use of his own plans. Roosevelt’s success did also amount to a great Presidential cabinet, which helped advise him towards accomplishing more for the country. However, Roosevelt was mainly remembered through his grand personality, as well as his political wit. Therefore, combining both aspects of his time as President as well as the help he received created a prime opportunity for more to be done through his plans. Accomplishing problems through your own plans requires a great deal of personal involvement and charisma in order to have success. Only well thought out plans had the possibility for gaining success, and the lack of preparation could ruin any chance a person may receive. The proof that is seen through the tribulations of Martin Luther King Jr and Theodore Roosevelt is that their use of preparation and planning allowed their accomplishments to thrive under their direction. Their success could only be proven through the time that they applied. Therefore, Martin Luther King Jr. and Theodore Roosevelt did accomplish more through doing things their own way. However, choosing to jump into the problem brashly would’ve ruined any possibility towards success. If the preparation and organization is set, then accomplishments can occur with great success through a person’s personal direction.
