THE BIG CHEESES COME TO BATH
FOR THE FINE CHEESE CO. FESTIVAL AT MILSOM PLACE
ON 25TH OCTOBER 2014
Bath plays host to a mouth-watering mix of the UK’s leading artisan cheese makers
at the Fine Cheese Co. Festival at Milsom Place on 25th October (10 am to 5pm).
This annual festival is a firm fixture for the best in class in an increasingly competitive
world and a one-off opportunity to meet the makers and sample award-winning
cheese.
Bath Soft Cheese, Keen’s Cheddar, Ticklemore Cheese and Trethowan’s Dairy are
among the cheese makers taking centre stage at The Octagon in Milsom Place to
show off their of delicious, award-winning cheese. Sarah Mansfield, Director of
Milsom Place said “we love working with the Fine Cheese Co. on this event and all
look forward to welcoming the UK’s top cheese makers back to Bath. Milsom Place
is a hub of foodie activity and this is one of the highlights of the Great Bath Feast
during October”.
British Cheese Supreme Champions of 2006 Stacey Cheeses make the closest
thing to a classic French Camembert; intense, vegetal and rich while the 2010
winners Caws Cenarth will be presenting their organic cow’s milk cheeses including
their famous Welsh Farmhouse Caerffili. Blue cheese from Devon cheese maker
Ticklemore Cheese; is made in a Roquefort style, tasting sweet and slightly spicy.
Sample fabulous delicate, unpasteurised goat’s cheese by Neal’s Yard Creamery
from Herefordshire as well as their yoghurt, crème fraiche and a triple cream cow’s
milk cheese, Finn.
Fourth generation cheese makers George and James Keen from Keen’s Cheddar in
Somerset will present their cloth bound cheddar, aged like a fine wine for 12 months.
The Old Cheese Room located just outside Bath at Neston Park will be showing off
their Reblochin; an unpasteurised cheese made from Jersey milk.
Bath Soft Cheese, makers of organic, soft and gouda style cheeses have created
Bath Blue, Wyfe of Bath and Kelston Park as well as their signature soft cheese. The
Traditional Cheese Dairy from the Sussex Weald produce a range of tasty
unpasteurised sheep’s and cows milks cheese including the critically acclaimed
ewe’s milk cheese Lord of the Hundreds and award-winning Burwash Rose.
Westcombe Dairy renowned for Somerset Cheddar and Caerphilly made from their
own cow’s milk following traditional methods.
Rachel made by Pete Humphries of White Lake Cheese was a finalist for the SOFI
Awards (Speciality Outstanding Food Innovation) the Oscars for American food
producers. Made with goats’ milk, Rachel cheese has a rare, subtle texture and
smooth, clean taste. Humphries named the cheese after a girlfriend whom he
describes as “sweet, curvy and slightly nutty.”
