Plant Production Research Center Piešťany - The Center has the expertise to carry out research in the following fields: sustainable production of biomass for energy purposes; improvement and optimization of energy crop production systems and technologies, impact of climate change on the stability of crop production, land use and land management in mountain and upland regions, environmentally sustainable systems of breeding of animals especially ruminants, making and utilisation of grass energy pellets, utilisation of digestate from biogas plants, monitoring of the soil, geographical, climatic, economic and ecological characteristics of the sites in different parts and regions of the Slovak Republic and consultancy in the use of land for growing of energy. Institute of Landscape Ecology SAS - biodiversity and production ecology of forest, bioenergy, grassland and mountain ecosystems, mainly in stress conditions caused by pollution, climatic changes and tourism ecological and biodiversity problems of agricultural landscape, territorial system of ecological stability, preservation of biodiversity and geoecodiversity influence of anthropogenous factors on landscape biodiversity, ecological optimization and landscape utilization and methodology of ecological carrying capacity management of protected areas endangered by negative interference. Institute of Landscape Ecology has elaborated typisation of the Slovak landscape, with the complex database about properties of the individual landscape types of the Slovakia its methodology “LANDEP” is recommended as one of the methodologies for integrated protection of the natural resources in the AGENDA 21 from Rio Summit. The mission of the Institute is the basic research of spatial structures and the bonds between the natural and socio-economic systems with a special regard for the territory of Slovakia. PPRC - The Plant Production Research Center Piešťany was established in 2008 as the successor to the Slovak Agricultural Research Centre Nitra. The Plant Production Research Center comprises the Plant Production Research Institute Piešťany (founded in 1951), the Grassland and Mountain Agriculture Research Institute Banská Bystrica (founded in 1962), the Research Institute of Viticulture and Enology Bratislava (founded in 1924) and the Agroecology Research Institute Michalovce (founded in 1965). ILE SAS - is an interdisciplinary scientific institute for both the basic and applied research as well as for coordination and elaboration of ecological plans and projects. The main research topics are the analyses, syntheses and interpretations of the abiotical, biotic and socio - economical elements of landscape for landscape ecological planning, optimal space organization and utilization of the landscape, ecological problems of territory, the impact of anthropogenic factors on the landscape, ecological optimisation and utilization of landscape and methodic E.I.A, ecological problems of agricultural landscapes, territorial system of ecological stability, maintenance of biodiversity and geoecodiversity.
