Welcome to the 2014 Auction.
This year’s auction will have some familiar features and some that are new – silent
auction and live auction with some of the silent auction items closing before the live
auction and some closing after. We will play the heads and tails game (cash only) and
new this year, a jumble table with all items priced at $5 (lots of gift cards). Toward
the end of this catalog is a calendar of the events scheduled for actual dates. Also
toward the end of the catalog is a wish list form for you to fill out and bring with you
to the auction.
Procedure: Silent auction items will have bid sheets on tables and will be arranged in
number order, grouped by category. In cases of events and other items with multiple
slots available, the bidding sheets will contain multiple columns for bidding. Table
monitors will be available to help, but the key is that highest bidders always win, and
in cases of ties at the same bid, the earliest bid wins (same as last year).
If you are unable to attend the auction, but want to participate in bidding, you have
two choices. You can find a friend to bid for you OR you can bid the guaranteed
price. Bidding a guaranteed price for any of the silent auction items will insure that
you will get the item. All pre-auction guaranteed price bids must be emailed to
auction@foothillsuu.org by 9 pm Friday, Nov. 14.

Yurt at Red Feather Lakes for Two Nights
Quantity:

Discover what Native Americans and Mongolian nomads knew centuries ago -- round shelters
are superior to square. Spend a weekend (2 nights) in our Red Feather Lakes yurt. Unlike the
nomads of the Mongolian steppes you won't be roughing it. The yurt has bunk beds and a
futon -- it sleeps 4 comfortably, but has floor space for more. Plus there is a tent platform. At
night you can gaze at the stars through a plexiglass dome. During the day you can lounge on
the deck. You will prepare meals in our weather tight cookhouse and take care of business in
an outhouse outfitted with an odorless composting toilet. Extensive forest trails begin a few
dozen yards away or if you prefer fishing or boating, Dowdy Lake is just over the hill. You will
have access to three kayaks and a canoe during your stay. Leave your cares behind and
come enjoy mountain views and some decadent camping a short drive from home.

"Old Bags" Set of Goodies - Sets A, B, C
Quantity:

2 notecards, 2 postcards, and 2 bookmarks in each set. Libby says these are for people who
enjoy trash! If you're not familiar with her work, here is how Libby describes it: "One day a
little card arrived at my house, and my life has not been the same since. The card was made
from a used tea bag by women in a remote village in South Africa. "Once filled with tea," it
read, "Now filled with love." I did love that card, so much that I framed it and then began to
wonder if I could make a card from a tea bag. The cards I create don't look anything like the
one that inspired me. And they continue to evolve. Ever since then, I've been tearing up tea
bags and putting them back together in funny little ways." You will enjoy her creativity.

Cabin Doll House
Quantity:

Whether you are an art collector or a grandparent with kids, you need a dollhouse like this!
Down to the last detail (it has working lights!), this dollhouse is a replica of a cabin built in
1968 in the Capitan Mountains of southeast New Mexico. The architect of both the dollhouse
and the real cabin is LaVerne Smith, star of the book Grandmother’s Adobe Dollhouse, a
children’s story about the culture, the food, and the architecture and arts of New Mexico.
Laurel, a 32-year-old member of Foothills UU remembers climbing that red spiral staircase
when she would visit her grandparents as a young child. Contents of dollhouse, and table are
included. You have to see this to truly appreciate it!

3 one-hour sessions for one person. Rolfing Structural Integration combines hands-on body
work and movement education. It manipulates the body's connective tissue to rebalance and
bring relief from chronic pain, stress, and injury. Using their fingers, hands, and elbows,
Rolfers slowly work through deep layers of tissue to change structural patterns in the body by

Carlos is Back!
Quantity:
1
Carlos is back to find another good UU home. For those of you who don't know him, he's a 4ft rooster sculpture, quite unique, and he could be yours to foster for ONE YEAR! He could
live in your yard, on your porch, or in your kitchen. He is colorful and fun and last year's
winners Dannielle North, Matt and Titan Flynn, and Lucy Cabieles say he doesn't eat much.
They are sad to see him go, but now it's your turn to take Carlos home, make him part of your
family for one year, then return him to the church before the next auction so another family
can enjoy his company! (Unless Dannielle outbids you!)
