ARTICLE 01 NAME
The name of the organization shall be the Northern College Student Association of Northern
College of Applied Arts & Technology, Porcupine campus. Hereinafter it shall be referred to as
the Northern College Student Association, NCSA. (Revised January 01, 1994; 2003; 2008; 2010)
ARTICLE 02 HEAD OFFICE
The head office of the corporation shall be in the City of Timmins, in the Province of Ontario.
ARTICLE 03 PURPOSE
The purpose of NCSA shall be “to provide for the administration fo the affairs of the students at
the college, including the development of management of student institutions, the development
and enforcement of a system of student laws, and the promotion of the general welfare of
students consistent with the purposes of the college.” (Colleges Act RSA 1970 c56 s51)
ARTICLE 04 MEMBERSHIP
The membership of the Corporation shall be composed of:
1) Any person enrolled as a student in any program of Northern College of Applied Arts &
Technology, Porcupine campus, hereinafter referred to as “the college”.
2) Any person who has paid their designated student activity fee and has received a student
card.
3) Any person who has been granted, by a majority vote, by the council.
4) Any student meeting the GPA requirements previously mentioned.
In the event of death or resignation, membership is ceased and is non transferable.
ARTICLE 05 BOARD OF DIRECTORS
1) The affair of NCSA shall be managed and guided by a Board of Directors consisting of;
a. President; Vice President; Director of Finance; Director of Public Relations;
Director of Athletics, Director of Events and Rez Life; Director of Cultural
Affairs, Director of Volunteers & Director of Internal Affairs
2) Operations of the Corporation shall be managed by the executive committee consisting of
the persons listed in article 05 (1a)
3) Board of Directors is to gather information, in regards to decision making affect students
to the relevant issues arising at Student Representative Forum and Program Councils

THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS SHALL BE
1. Perform and meet the required responsibilities of NCSA in accordance with position
descriptions, By-laws, Policies & Procedures, Guiding Principles and Constitution
2. Facilitation for the services, activities, and publications of the interests of members that
are involved
3. Facilitate communication between student body, faculty and administration at all
campuses
4. Administer all funds accruing to NCSA
ARTICLE 08 NOTICES OF MEETINGS
1. NCSA Board of Directors will meet a minimum of two times per semester, four times per
academic year. In accordance with By-laws, meetings may be called as necessary
2. The Board of Directors shall meet in accordance with the needs of the organization
ARTICLE 09 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETINGS
The annual General Meeting of NCSA shall be held on the April 1st or within ten days there
after.
ARTICLE 10 ELECTIONS
1. Board of Directors for NCSA shall be determined from result of an annual election.
Dates for election packages to be distributed and election dates will be determined by the
Student Executive Council.
1.a Positions that requiring to be advertised for election are President, Vice President,
Director of Finance, Director of Public Relations, Director of Internal Affairs,
Director of Cultural Relations, Director of Athletics, & Director of Pub Operations,
Director of Events & Rez Life, Director of Volunteers
1. b Candidates receiving the majority student vote for a position shall fill the position
1. c In the event of sole candidacy, members can be appointed to council by vote of
current Board of Directors
2. Student Representative shall be elected in the manner stated in the Official Student
Representative Guide

ARTICLE 11 TERM
1. Term of office shall commence of the first regular business day following the completion
of the stated winter exam schedule. Terms will last for one year or until the next set of
winter exams are completed
ARTICLE 12 ELEGIBILITY
1. NCSA fee paying member of Northern College Student Body
2. Minimum GPA 3.0
3. Minimum GPA 2.5 must be maintained once elected to council
ARTICLE 13 AMENDMENTS TO THE CONSTITUTION
1. The Board of Directors may enact, amend, or rescind any provision or part thereof this
constitution. Any of the above mentioned requires a vote consisting of a 2/3 majority
2. Meetings called for the purpose of rescinding or amending any provision or part thereof
this Constitution may be called upon a request signed by not less than ten percent of the
members of the student body
