DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SERVICES GRADUATE STUDENT ASSISTANT POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT SPRING-SUMMER 2015 Position Title: Teaching Assistant Course Title: HIHIM 450: Organizational Theory in Healthcare Facilities Supervising Faculty: Carole L. Okamoto, Senior Lecturer Employment Period: June 1 – August 31, 2015 Hours & FTE: 10 hours/week (25% FTE) Position Description: HIHIM 450 addresses the organization of healthcare services across the spectrum of healthcare delivery systems -- both governmental (federal, state, local) and private. The TA will help support my teaching of this class. The TA is expected to attend class sessions which will take place Tuesdays from 4:106:50 p.m. starting June 23. Duties and Responsibilities: Attend class sessions Facilitate focus groups during class period Provide review, feedback and grading of weekly focus group research conducted by students as requested by instructor Assist instructor with student guidance as requested in accordance with course syllabus Assist with other classroom activities as requested by instructor Required Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills: Bachelor’s degree Previous group facilitation experience and/or skills Desired: Previous knowledge/experience in health care industry A prior graduate of the HIHIM program or a graduate student with knowledge and experience in the health care delivery system. Will also consider an HIHIM student who has successfully completed HIHIM 450 course work and demonstrated solid academic performance. Eligibility: Must be a matriculated student during the employment period stated above Must be registered for 10 credits if a graduate student, or 6 credits if an undergraduate student Salary: Graduate Student: this will be an Academic Student Employee (ASE) position governed by the UAW Contract and paid in accordance with 2014-15 Regular Salary Schedules. An automatic raise of at least 4% will be given starting July 1, 2015. Undergraduate Student: this will be an hourly paid position. Tuition: This position does not include a tuition waiver.
