Why Recycling is important. By Fabiola Nieto Cervantes. Have you ever thought about how much garbage you produce every day? According to Environmental Protection Agency “The average person generates over 4 pounds of trash every day and about 1.5 tons of solid waste each day. So, just imagine what it means. As a human, every one of us have been contributing in the pollution of our planet in different ways, but it is not late to do something and help. One easy way to do it could be, recycling. In my personally experience, I have been recycling plastic bottles and cartons since I was in Elementary School and I am still doing it, because I want to help the place where my family and friends live One person can do the difference just recycling and take care about the environment. Hello every one my name is Fabiola Nieto Cervantes and today I will discuss with you about why recycling is important, what some benefits of recycling are, what will happen if we don’t do it, and the process to recycle. Transition: Let’s see what the concept is and what some of the benefits are. MP1: What is recycling? Recycling is the process of collecting and reprocessing materials that would typically be considered waste. An example of recycling is reforming old glass bottles into glass building tiles. Transition: but why should we recycle? What we are going to have if we do it? Let’s see our next point. MP2 Why is recycling important? Recycling has a lot of benefits that can help people and save the environment as well. Transition: Recycling has many reasons but for this moment just I will be focused in the 3 more important. Here are 3 great reasons about why recycle is important. Recycling saves the earth: Recycling different products will help the environment. (For example, we know that paper comes from trees and many trees are being cut down just to produce paper. By recycling it, we can help to reduce the number of trees that are cut down.) Recycling Helps Mitigate Global Warming and Reduce Pollution: Recycling non-biodegradable waste will contribute a lot to help reduce air pollution and greenhouse gasses that reduces the ozone layer. Recycling helps you Save Money: Recycling provides ways to save money. You can sell recyclable materials to organizations that are willing to buy it. Using products that are recycled lowers expenses. Products that are made from recycled materials are less expensive than products made from fresh materials. MP2: What will happen if we don’t recycle? While not recycling or taking an interest in what happens to the environment may not hurt you now, but once you are older such as 35/45 years it will. It will affect your children and your grandchildren like it has affected us now. MP3: Steps of recycling materials. Recycling is easy for every person just you need to follow these Steps: Collection and Processing o Collect all the products and separate them in categories, such as Plastic, glass, paper, organic and inorganic, and cartons. o After collection, recyclables are sent to a recovery facility to be sorted, cleaned, and processed into materials that can be used in manufacturing Manufacturing More and more of today's products are being manufactured with recycled content. Common household items that contain recycled materials include: o Newspapers and paper towels. o aluminum, plastic, and glass soft drink containers o plastic laundry detergent bottles Purchasing new products made from recycled materials. o Some companies help the environment and recycle products, and then do something for themselves and make new products that sell again. Such as Plastic bottles, bags, glasses bottles, etc. o When you go shopping, look for: Products that can be easily recycled, and Products that contain recycled content. Actually some companies are doing something for the environment, for example Coca cola has been using recycled and renewable materials. Currently, Coca Cola is using an average of 32% recycled materials in its packaging and Coca Cola wants to increase this amount. Conclusion: Recycling is not difficult for us you can do it from your home. Start with easy things such as separate the garbage in organic and inorganic, separate plastic bottles and glass bottles. If you want to have a better future for your children, grandchildren even for yourself without pollution and soil contamination for all the bigger garbage amounts that we produce each day. Let’s to take action now, I challenge you to bring in December 3rd plastic of bottles and carton for make something new at the lobby with Seed Club. I encourage you to star recycling and make the difference, let’s start today. Sources Environmental Protection Agency. "Municipal Solid Waste." EPA.
