Summer Camp Reading Teacher Job Description To plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic reading potential Essential Job Functions Must be able to communicate with campers in a positive manner, even when disciplining Maturity and pose when enforcing the rules and fulfilling job functions High expectations – genuinely believe that all students can learn and succeed. Team player – communicate openly and truthfully with LKS staff members. Specific Responsibilities Provides direct instruction to students in a full classroom setting and small groups Establish clear objectives for all lessons, unites and projects using formal and informal assessment date obtained from students. Use a variety of instructional techniques and literacy materials consistent with reading/language are common core standards. Collaborates, with Lead Teacher regarding students who may need specialized interventions. Provide written evidence of preparation and results upon request of the director. Conducts student assessments to identify those who need extra tutoring, planning instruction, and/or to assist staff members in learning various assessment techniques. Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and maintain accurate, completed and correct records of the progress of each student. Help locate and promote materials to improve reading instruction. Other duties as assigned by the director or assistant director. Education and Experience Bachelors degree or seeking a Bachelors degree in education or two years working with children preferable in a school environment, with major or minor in reading or a reading endorsement Meet professional teacher education requirements of State of Ohio Common Core Standards Proven ability to effectively communicated with and related to urban children and parents Ability to work independently or within a team Key Competencies Verbal and written communication skills Professional personal presentation Customer service orientation Information management Organizing and planning Attention to detail Initiative Reliability Stress tolerance
