FRANCESCA AMFITHEATROF DESIGN DIRECTOR, TIFFANY & CO. Francesca Amfitheatrof is design director of Tiffany & Co. She is responsible for interpreting Tiffany’s 177-year legacy of innovation in modern creations of striking beauty and original style. Ms. Amfitheatrof joined Tiffany & Co. in September 2013, bringing with her over 20 years of experience in the worlds of art and jewelry design, fragrance, furniture and interiors. Francesca is a trained jeweler and silversmith, having received a master’s degree from the Royal College of Art in 1993. Over the course of her career, she has designed jewelry collections for Chanel, Fendi and Alice Temperley; jewelry and accessories for Marni; jewelry and silverware for Asprey & Garrard; and a men’s collection for Kauffman Stanley in Switzerland. Since 1993, Alessi Italy has featured her tabletop designs and gifts, and she has designed furniture and lighting for interior designer Muriel Brandolini. From 2003 through 2008 she was a creative consultant at Wedgwood Stoke, responsible for china, crystal and flatware. Other clients include Creative Perfumers, for whom she developed fragrances for private clients and Claridge’s Hotel. During this time, she co-founded RS&A Ltd., a London-based agency representing the work of important contemporary artists. In addition, Francesca has been an art consultant and curator for major collections, museums and private individuals throughout the world. Her work includes contemporary and archive shows at Museo Gucci in Florence, Italy; a group show of British painters in Milan; and selected works from the Francois Pinault Collection, as well as a group show in Seoul, Korea, with works by Damien Hirst, Jeff Koons, Takashi Murakami and Cindy Sherman. Prior to the Royal College of Art, Francesca attended Central Saint Martins, a university of the arts in London. She is a visiting lecturer at both schools.
