Students on the following courses at the University of Brighton are eligible to submit their coursework to The Showcase at the Brighton Big Screen and will be eligible to win the prize. How to submit your film Open an account at www.vimeo.com Upload your film o Email your course tutor - the title of the email should be ‘Brighton Big Screen The Showcase’ o In the email you must include the vimeo URL link, full name, email address, contact telephone number, student number to your course tutor o Your email must arrive by midnight on 20 May 2016 Course tutors will send the vimeo URL to artsnews@brighton.ac.uk All entrants will be notified by the College of Arts and Humanities (artsnews@brighton.ac.uk) by 3 June 2016 to confirm if your film has been shortlisted. One film will win £100 Amazon gift voucher with 9 runners up. Winning film will be picked by a panel of 4 judges. 3. The film must be submitted in the following format: AVI, MP4, MOV video files only – no Premiere/Final Cut files, SWF or FLV We recommend stereo 2.0 16:9 aspect ratio resolution including 1280 x 720 minimum 1024 x 576 1:1 pixel aspect ratio (square pixels) 4. Films must include the following top and tail slides: Front slide o student name, film name and course name in the font Helvetica Neue o University of Brighton, College of Arts and Humanities – available at http://arts.brighton.ac.uk/bigscreen o Final slide – University of Brighton, College of Arts and Humanities – http://arts.brighton.ac.uk/bigscreen 5. The Film must be part of your course work, suitable for family viewing (no sex, drugs, swearing etc.) and not longer that 10 minutes (or 600 seconds) in length. 6. By submitting your films you confirm that you have permission from all people, music and locations shown in your film. 7. Maximum three entries per person will be accepted. 8. Prize: The winner will receive one £100 Amazon voucher (non-refundable or exchangeable) 9 runners up will have their short film showcased on Brighton’s Big Screen 9. No responsibility is accepted by the Promoters for entries lost, delayed, misdirected, incomplete or which cannot be played for any technical or other reason. Proof of delivery of entry is not proof of receipt. 10. The judges will be looking for an entry which complies with the above conditions. 11. The panel of 4 judges shall be provided by the College of Arts and Humanities, University of Brighton. The judges' decision shall be final and the Promoters will not enter into any discussion or correspondence concerning the results. The College of Arts and Humanities may change the panel of judges without notice to entrants 12. Initial judging will be to immediately eliminate any film that: Is not in the correct format Does not include logo, student name, film name and course name as instructed Is longer than 10 minutes Is not suitable for family viewing Has not been submitted as instructed 13. Timings Stage One: All entries submitted (by 20 May 2016) Stage Two: Shortlisted films and winner will be notified (by 3 June 2016) Stage three: Films to be shown on the Big Screen (10 June to 10 July) Finalists will be shown within The Showcase as part of Brighton’s Big Screen programme. Schedule. 14. The finalists will be required to agree that their film may be screened as follows: On “Brighton’s Big Screen” On the University of Brighton website (including third party websites where the University has an official institutional profile) On Brighton’s Big Screen website On plasma screens at Grand Parade 15. Prior to acceptance of the prize, the finalists shall be asked to give consent for the use of his/her name and image in connection with promotional activities. 16. The Promoters exclude liability for any damage, loss, liabilities, injury or disappointment incurred or suffered by any entrant as a result of submitting their films. 17. These terms and conditions are governed by English law and are subject to the jurisdiction of the English courts. 18. Submission to The Showcase is acceptance of these terms and conditions. 19. The Promoters may cancel this opportunity and amend these terms and conditions without notice. 20. The Promoters may refuse or disqualify any entry (including the winning entry) if it does not comply with any of these conditions or if the winner acts in a way which the Promoters reasonably consider to be inappropriate, unlawful or offensive. If a winning entry is disqualified the Promoters reserve the right to award the prize to another entrant. 21. By entering, you agree to the collection, retention, usage and distribution of your personal information in order to process your competition entry. 22. By submitting a film you warrant that the film is your own work and does not infringe any third party copyright. You hereby grant the Promoters a non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free, licence to use your film as per paragraph 7 above. 23.
