Air pollution Air is more and more polluted and we, humans are responsible. Pollution comes from vehicles, factories and our homes. Polluted air can easily travel and spread. This can be harmful to humans, animals and plants, because we breathe in air, we cannot easily avoid it. But we can reduce its amount. What can we do? We can use buses and trains instead of cars or we can walk or cycle. We can save energy, for example turn off lights when they are not needed. It means that less carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere. We can recycle or reuse used materials, such as glass bottles and jars, steel and aluminium cans, plastic bottles and waste paper, so we will use less energy than making new ones. We can compost fruit and vegetable waste. It will reduce the amount of rubbish buried at rubbish dumps.
