VISION
STATEMENT
The ugly retainer wall across from Cloud Lake
gets a face lift!
2013
To be the best
private fishing,
camping, and
events venue in
the
Pikes Peak
Region.
Before Picture

After Picture
The retainer wall by Cloud Lake has been an eyesore for the
resort for many years. With the talent of local
masonry,Daniel Halbrook out of Florissant, the wall is now a
beautiful piece of art!
What is a chub you ask?
The "Chub" fish is any one of a number of ray-finned fishes in
several families and genera. The Chub pictured above was caught
at Thunder Lake. For our purpose here at Lost Dutchman Resort,
we define a Chub as a small, undesirable adult fish. They are the
fish that waste the time of any fisherman who is trying to catch
the "big one," but instead is spending his time removing a Chub
from his hook. We don't want Chubs in our lakes. If you catch a
Chub we ask you not to throw it back into the lake, but rather put
it in one of our bear-proof dumpsters. This season we will be
introducing Small Mouth Bass and/or Walleye into one of our
lakes to test and see if these natural predators of Chub will help
us reduce our Chub problem. We have not yet made a final
decision on which will be the test lake, but we will keep you
posted.

Jigging attracts fish but unless they're very active, a Lake Trout
won't take your bait/lure until it stops. So a very effective
method is to raise and drop the tip, wait 3-10 seconds and repeat
the raise/drop.
Vary the amount of time you let you jig remain still.
While ice fishing, using live bait is essential whether you're
jigging, dead sticking, using a bobber, or a tip up.
If you don't catch fish in one area, move to another. Ten feet is
often the difference between success and failure.
No matter where you choose to fish for trout in winter, "warm
snaps" where air temperatures are above normal for a day or two
are also a great time to fish for winter trout.
