DROH!ME Environmental Charter
The Boitsfort Hippodrome Environmental Charter aims to define the undertakings made by all partners
who are active on the site. It is an integral part of the partnership agreement.
ENVIRONMENTAL CHARTER OF THE HdB – DROH!ME SITE
Article 1: Definition of aims
Respectfully maintaining the environment naturally prolongs environmental quality efforts made at the
time of the conversion works or during daily activities. As any activity will give rise to nuisances for the
neighbouring environment, the concern of the environmental charter is to minimise these nuisances for
the benefit of the environment and the comfort of local residents. While remaining compatible with
requirements linked to professional practices, the aims of this charter are:
-
To minimise risks and nuisances to local residents
To minimise risks to staff and visitors' health
To ensure cleanliness of the site and its surroundings
To minimise the amount of waste
To conserve water resources
To ensure protection of flora
To ensure protection of fauna

charter; in the event of non-compliance with any one of these conditions, any potential rehabilitation
costs shall be borne by the partner.
Article 3: Monitoring and follow-up of the procedures
An "environment" manager shall be appointed by the partner. He will organise information and
awareness rising amongst the company staff and all potential external staff (including sub-contractors,
suppliers, delivery staff, etc.).
He will monitor the commitments included in the environmental charter, ensuring that authorised
sound levels are not exceeded, waste sorting is carried out properly, and fauna and flora are respected.
Article 4: Compliance with regulations
The partner shall ensure that applicable regulations are complied with. For instance, the site is subject
to NATURA 2000 regulations (see www.ibgebim.be).
Article 5: Waste management, collection and processing
Article 5.1: Waste
The partner shall ensure management of separate collections for all waste resulting from his activity. He

recommendations:
-
Use material which is in good condition to avoid leaks
Use an anti-splash nozzle on the hose pipe
Article 6.2: Limiting pollution
The use of certain products can be at the root of surface water or ground water pollution: anything
which is not taken in by the plants is further carried by the rain. It is also required that input be limited.
Article 7: Protection of local fauna and flora
Green spaces represent a considerable vegetation density, and some animals may be present in the
areas in question. Therefore, great care is required regarding plants and making sure to behave in a
manner that does not harm or endanger any animals on the site.
Article 7.1: Protection of flora
No damage should affect existing vegetation. It is strictly forbidden to cut down any tree and/or bush or
to uproot any vegetation.
