FS 557931 CCPU UNIT ACCREDITATION Procedures for seeking accreditation of ASUM CCPU units This unit accreditation procedure is designed to assist ASUM in accrediting the units offered by training providers. The CCPU syllabi are developed by ASUM members practicing in the specialty unit. All unit accreditation applications are referred to the CCPU/CAHPU Certification Board for assessment and a decision on accreditation. As a matter of policy, ASUM does not accept applications for accreditation where a syllabus is not complete. However, provisional accreditation will be considered in these instances. ASUM syllabi are available on http://www.asum.com.au/CCPU How to submit an application for unit accreditation Step 1. Complete the unit accreditation form and submit to ASUM with accompanying documents. The application form must include the organisation’s contact details and indicate which ASUM syllabus the unit reflects. Applications may reflect a number of ASUM syllabi. If a syllabus is not available, provisional accreditation may be available. Step 2. Prepare and submit a detailed report outlining how the submission addresses the accreditation criteria listed on the application form. Generally, a course marketing brochure is not sufficient in detail. All intellectual property submitted with the application form will be treated confidentially and returned, if requested. Help: Please refer to the submissions checklist at the end of this document for further guidance. When ASUM receives an application for unit accreditation, the following takes place: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. The application is acknowledged ASUM staff checks that all elements of the application are present and all accreditation criteria are addressed. If the application is incomplete, ASUM staff will contact the applicant requesting the additional information The complete application is submitted to the CCPU/CAHPU Certification Board The CCPU/CAHPU Certification Board makes a decision based on all information given The decision is communicated to the applicant The CCPU/CAHPU Certification Board meets every three months. The normal timeframe for a standard accreditation to be processed should be about three months. Actual timeframe will be affected by requests for additional information and timing of the CCPU/CAHPU Certification Board meetings. Following Accreditation Once the unit/s has been accredited, ASUM will include it on the list Accredited Unit Providers List found on www.asum.com.au.
