Application for Admission – Guidance notes This document is in addition to the Direct Application Form. It provides clarification of some questions and advice to enable you to submit the strongest possible application. Programme of application: Full title of course: Please include this as it is presented on the website, including the award (i.e. BA, FdSc etc.). Entry onto year: If you are applying for a course with a kick-start (foundation) year, highlight ‘Kick-start’ OR if you are applying for a Postgraduate course, highlight ‘Postgraduate’ rather than year 1. Your fees: Who is responsible for paying your fees? You can choose more than one option, and where the proportion/amount that each party is to pay is known, this should be noted. Fee Status Assessments: In some cases students from outside the EU are eligible to pay Home Fees. If you feel you may be eligible, you should complete a Fee Status Assessment and return it at the same time as your application. You can request this form from feestatusassessment@glyndwr.ac.uk. You can find advice on writing your personal statement at: www.glyndwr.ac.uk/en/Howtoapply. You can attach additional sheets or attach a word-processed personal statement. Your specific support needs: This section allows us to prepare support you may require. This information is treated in confidence. Your reference: Your qualifications: Your referee should be a professional person who you have known for at least a year and who can vouch for your professional experience and/or your academic ability. You must not be related to, or have a personal relationship with your referee. If you are applying for entry onto year 2 or year 3, highlight the point at wish to join the course. You should list your qualifications with the most recent first, even if you do not yet know your results. Part-time applicants should highlight the equivalent full-time year of entry. If you already have your results, include a copy of your certificates with the application form. Be sure to include the awarding body (eg. BTEC, WJEC, Edexcel, etc.), the full title of the course as it appears on your certificates, and the level (eg. GCSE, A Level, NVQ3, National Diploma etc.). Additional information: You should complete ‘Type of visa held’ in cases where you studied in the UK and required a visa to study. Criminal Your personal and contact details: Surnames/First names: These should be given in full in the same way as they appear in your passport. Nationality: This should be as it appears in your passport. If you have dual nationalities, you should include all that appear in your passport(s). Phone/Email: Both the Home and Mobile phone numbers (including dialling code when outside the UK) AND Primary and Secondary email addresses must be given to allow us to contact you with details of your application status. Home address: This is where you normally reside, and will be used for correspondence if the Correspondence address is not completed. If your address is outside the UK you should write is as it appears on your correspondence normally, ignoring the headings given. Correspondence address: This should be used if you would rather correspondence went to an alternative address, such as an agent or a post box. If this address is outside the UK you should write is as it appears on your correspondence normally, ignoring the headings given. Your English language proficiency: If your native language is English or Welsh, you need to complete only the first question. This information is not course specific but is needed for your application. Convictions: Information about relevant criminal convictions can be found here: www.glyndwr.ac.uk/en/Howtoapply/FAQs/ Local Authority Care: If you have spent any time in Local Authority Care, even for one day (including public care or lived in foster care, semi-independent living or residential care homes), you should tick ‘yes’. Your personal statement: This is your opportunity to demonstrate why you are suited to the course; include and demonstrate your skills, abilities, experiences and motivation, along with demonstrating an understanding of the subject area and content. assessing.
