SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
Performing arts are art forms in which artists use their voices and/or the movements of their bodies,
often in relation to other objects, to convey artistic expression—as opposed to, for example, purely visual
arts, in which artists use paint/canvas or various materials to create physical or static art objects.
Performing arts include a variety of disciplines but all are intended to be performed in front of a live
audience. Examples of this art form are Ballet, Dance, Music, Opera, Theater, Film Acting, Circus Skills,
Magic, Mime, Puppetry. We are also accepting Computer or Film Animation.

Resident of Dublin planning a career in the Performing Arts.
High School senior with plans to pursue a college major in the Performing Arts or attend an Art
Institution in fall 2015.
Alumni of Extended Day Child Care (EDCC)*
*Former EDCC students will be considered first, if none apply then scholarship will go to the most qualified
applicant in the arts that meets the first two requirements.
Application Guidelines:
1. A one-time scholarship of (1) $2,000 will be awarded.
2. Awards will be based on:
a. An effective essay explaining your interest in the performing arts and obtaining a future
profession. Please include your plan for reaching your goal. This personal expression is a very
important part of your application. Your handwritten signature is required.
b. 3 character references (no more, no fewer) need to be attached to the form supplied. Each
reference handwritten signature is required.
c. Statement of need for financial assistance - optional
3. The application must include an official transcript. If none is included, the application will not be
read.

By April 24, 2015, applicants must submit a completed application by mail or by hand to:

Scholarship Selection Committee will determine the recipients 1 week after the deadline.
6. The selected winner will be notified at the May 20th, 2015 awards night at Dublin High School.
7. Upon receipt of proof of enrollment for the fall semester, 2015, the scholarship will be made payable
to the student’s account. Request for payment must be received no later than the end of October, 2015.
8. If a recipient fails to register or becomes ineligible to proceed with the planned goal, the scholarship
becomes null and void.

5. RESUME/ESSAY:
Please use a separate sheet of paper for your essay. Include the field of performing art study that interests
you and your long-term plans after graduation. Please include why you want to continue your education in
the performing arts . Use essay form. Your handwritten signature must appear at the end. The essay should
not exceed 750 words.
