Dubai, UAE – 15 April 2015 – Dubai Schools Cup 2015 winning teams
were given the trip of a lifetime to Old Trafford over the weekend,
where they participated in a training clinic led by Manchester United
coaches and watched live one of the most anticipated matches of the
FA Cup season the Manchester Derby, courtesy of Cup Main Sponsor
Chevrolet.
36 players between the ages of 11 and 17 travelled to the UK as part
of their winning prize for the Dubai Schools Cup 2015, a partnership
with the Dubai Sports Council. They represented the three winning
teams, all from the Lycee Francais School.
“Chevrolet would like to, once again, congratulate the winners of the
Dubai Schools Football Cup’s second edition,” said Ahmed Soudodi,
Regional Brand Manager for Chevrolet. “We hope that they enjoyed
the experience of watching the riveting Manchester United versus
Manchester City match live at Old Trafford. The game was packed
with a slew of exciting, edge-of-your-seat moments!”
He also added, “We enrolled these young winners in training clinics
so they could build their football prowess; ultimately, we wanted to
inspire them to ‘find new roads’, tap into new opportunities, and open
their eyes to endless possibilities. We hope that witnessing these
professional players in action at Old Trafford will help these young
footballers fine-tune their skills, so they can put them to the test in
next year’s highly-anticipated Dubai Schools Football Cup!”
Surrounded by a sea of red and blue and the deafening cheers of
75,000 supporters, the Dubai Schools Cups champs experienced the
electric atmosphere in the jam-packed Old Trafford stadium. With
Manchester United rallying to victory following a harsh start, the
match was a reminder of what it takes to be a true football legend.
Speaking after the match Hussein Murad, CEO Inspiratus, the
organizers of the Dubai Schools Cup said, “This trip is to celebrate
the achievements of every student who pursued his dream at the
Dubai Schools Cup and aspirations to become pro-footballers like
those they saw on the pitch at Old Trafford.”
“With our partners Dubai Sports Council and our main sponsors
Chevrolet, we are so proud to be able to bring this once in a lifetime
experience to the winners. Seeing their heroes play live and training
with Manchester United coaches will no doubt encourage the young
champions to become better students, leaders and pursue their
passion for football at the 2016 edition of the Cup!”
The exclusive training led by Manchester United coaches gave the
students first-hand experience of UK football which is characterized
by speed and tempo, key in the training and development of the
world’s greatest players such as Ryan Giggs and David Beckham.
The students were also treated to a private behind the scenes tour of
Old Trafford where they walked down the player’s tunnel and onto
the impressive pitch where some of their heroes entered the pitch
from on Sunday afternoon.
Speaking after the match Corentin Jaouen, Captain of the U16 Boys
said, “The match was very exciting, and I have no words to describe
it, it was the derby and it was just fantastic – and Chevrolet and the
Dubai Schools Cup is the reason that we got to be here.”
Commenting on the trip Sabrina Zouein, Captain of the U17 Girls said,
“The Dubai Schools Cup is a great tournament, we had to work hard
and play hard to get here and the trip has been amazing – we have
gotten so much closer as a team. I love football and two days of
training and watching the Manchester Derby is a dream come true
for me and my team.”
Chahin Hamdaoui captain of the U14 Boys said, “For my team, the
training was great we learned a lot and we hope that we will be even
stronger next year. The match was incredible, the energy in the
stadium was unforgettable and we had an amazing time.”

children from 55 schools in Dubai in a 6 week competition which has
culminated in the UK and this week.
