Page |1 Lisandra Gonzalez SOC 316 Rachel Kulick Research Proposal Assignment ANGLE Cyberbullying/Hating and Females RESEARCH QUESTION Do females experience more cyberbullying/hate on social network sites (SNS)? If so why? What effect does this have on our society? HOW DOES YOUR ANGLE RELATE TO YOUR LARGER GROUP RESEARCH PROJECT? My angle relates to our larger research project because we wanted to find out what factors contribute to UMD students who experience cyberbullying, and gender was a factor. WHY DOES YOUR ANGLE INTEREST YOU PERSONALLY? My angle interests me personally because not only am I female but I’ve had friends and family subjected to cyberbullying/hate. HOW DOES YOUR ANGLE INTERSECT WITH FINDINGS THAT HAVE SURFACED IN YOUR RESEARCH TEAM? In our research, fieldwork, interviews, and surveys we asked questions regarding gender and sexism. WHAT IS YOUR PRELIMINARY POSITION IN RELATION TO YOUR ANGLE? I believe that females do experience more cyberbullying/hate on social network sites because of the already disadvantaged position women hold in our society, and this results in more suicide attempts, violence in schools, the right to continue to police women’s bodies, and silencing women voices online.
