Temperature Lockout and High Elevation Adjustments Models with these features – N-0531S (NR66), N-0631S (NR71), N-0751M (NR98, NR981), N0931M (NR111), N-0841MC (NRC111), NRC1111, NRC98, NRC711, NRC661, NR83, NR501 & NH series Remote controller part number –RC-7651M, RC-7649M and RC-7648M (NH Series) Temperature Lockout Feature Allows the user to select their level of safety Remote will default to 120˚F (NH Series Remote defaults at 180˚F) The maximum temperature lockout in the NH Series can be set in Priority 1 To set the upper limit water temperature to 125˚F – 140˚F (except NH Series) Figure 1: RC-7649M When setting the upper limit water temperature to 125˚F – 180˚F (except NH Series) 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. Turn the water heater off by pressing the ON/OFF button on the remote controller. Disconnect electrical power to the heater. Remove the front cover of the water heater (4 screws). Connect “WATER TEMPERATURE ADJUSTMENT CONNECTOR” (2 blue wires), to the “180˚F” connector (red and yellow wire) - Figure 2. Replace the front cover of the water heater (4 screws). Reconnect electrical power to the water heater, but do not turn it on. Press and hold the FLOW METER ALARM SET Button (Fig. 1) until a sound is heard (2 sec.) and 120˚F flashes on the display. Set the upper limit of the hot-water supply temperature to 125˚F, 130˚F, 135˚F, 140˚F, 145˚F, 150˚F, 160˚F, 170˚F, or 180˚F using the UP and DOWN setting Figure 2: Temperature Connectors buttons. To put the water heater back to operation, press the ON/OFF button on the remote controller. Otherwise, let the unit sit for 30 sec. NH Series - Temperature Lockout for Priority 1 (Figure 3) 1. Turn off Power. 2. Press and hold the SET button until a sound is heard (2 sec.) and 180˚F flashes on the display. 3. Temperature can be changed to 140˚F, 145˚F, 150˚F, 155˚F, 160˚F, 165˚F, 170˚F, 176˚F, or 180˚F using the UP and DOWN setting buttons. Figure 3: RC-7648M 4. Press the Power button to ON, otherwise let the unit sit for 30 sec. High Elevation Adjustment Installation at 2000ft elevation or above Remove the front cover (4 screws). With the electrical power off disconnect the purple wire labeled “HIGH ELEVATION DISCONNECT” (Fig. 4) Replace the front cover and reconnect the electrical power This will adjust the fan speed to compensate for the thinner air at higher elevation Figure 4: High Elevation Connector Potential Problem A 73-code (733-code on NH Series) will appear if electrical power is not disconnected when connecting and disconnecting connectors for Temperature Lockout Feature and High Elevation. To reset this error code, disconnect and reconnect the electrical power.
