The Global Diabetes Survey (GDS) The GDS started in 2011 and currently has 1140 participants from 107 countries worldwide. And each day it´s getting more.... Mission To improve the quality of diabetes care worldwide The Vision Today diabetes care varies widely throughout the world but little is known about the effectiveness of care. Therefore the UN has called for actions to improve the quality of diabetes care and to monitor the current situation and new developments. Within the GDS we will initiate and build partnerships in order to access diabetes care in different countries all over the world. Aims of the GDS The main aim of the GDS is to: develop a standardised questionnaire to describe the quality of diabetes care and prevention worldwide This questionnaire shall be answered by all registered members. It is the basis for o describing the condition of diabetes care o identifying good diabetes practice as well as barriers and challenges o making comparisons of diabetes care between different countries o encouraging stakeholders and politicians to become more active in diabetes care o improving diabetes care and prevention worldwide o helping patients to receive good diabetes management To pursue these aims we are looking for volunteers (including patients, dietitians, physicians, nurses, scientists and other stakeholders) with experience in diabetes care and prevention. The project success depends on o the registration of as many volunteers as possible o the collaboration between all GDS-Members For more information please visit www.globaldiabetessurvey.com
