Follow this guide to
start composting!
Let’s Start Composting!
First you will have to find a compost
bin. This can be purchased or it can
be homemade. Make sure you place
your compost bin out of the way, but
make it easy to access and work
around.
Air + Water
+ Brown Stuff
+ Green Stuff
= Compost!
Brown stuff is dead and high in the
element carbon.
Green stuff is fresh and high in the
element nitrogen.
Don’t forget to water! This is a key
ingredient for your compost.
Your ingredients will attract small
organisms that you cannot see.
They will go to work and breakdown
all the components in your compost
bin. The ingredients will heat up
with all the critters working so hard
and when it becomes 60C or above
the weeds will be killed off leaving
only compost. Once your compost
is complete you can use it as mulch
around your garden or yard.
