Keep track of your college credits. Remember, College Now, and Expanded Options credits count.
If you are above 27 college credits, CONGRATULATIONS! You will receive an Advanced Diploma at graduation.
If you are under 27 college credits, and have not accessed the Expanded Option program for 2 years, you are
eligible to participate in the 5th year option.
Now… EVEN IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON PURSUING YOUR ADVANCED
DIPLOMA, YOU NEED TO COMPLETE ALL OF THESE TASKS:
September-December

Research and apply for other community colleges, universities, military and trade schools!
Don’t sell yourself short. It is better to have lots of options this Spring, than to be stuck with one.
Listen, and keep track of Career Events in our Panther Career Center…. Attend Financial Aid nights, listen to
colleges when they come speak, attend scholarship workshops, and most important…
TALK TO JACKI DAHL in the Career Center… she is VERY knowledgeable of this process.
Make an appointment and introduce yourself to Advanced Diploma counselor to let them know you are
interested in the option.
January

Apply for FAFSA in January. https://fafsa.ed.gov
Even if you are wanting to pursue your Advanced Diploma, it is important to apply for Financial Aid. This
ensures that you are weighing all of your options. Sometimes people end up with more money through
Financial Aid (FAFSA).
Attend FAFSA workshops to ensure you are filling out the application correctly.
March-May

Meet with Advanced Diploma Counselor and weigh out options. Make a decision on what option makes best
sense for you and your career goals.
When you have made an informed decision, complete paperwork for 5th year option at a community college.
Attend Advanced Diploma Information Session in March: Time/date TBA.
