Dear All Sdr. Landevej 28, DK-6400 Sønderborg Tel: +45 74 43 01 10 www.sischool.dk secretary@sischool.dk The last 4 months have been very special, and I would like to thank you all for the work and loyalty you have shown the school. The school year started out with a reform that cut away hours and even split a class in some noncore subjects. We also had new colleagues, a new Danish teacher and a new headmaster. Many things had to fall into place. Over the autumn, it was possible to establish a foundation for the future. Challenges were met with hard work to create the best possible solutions for the school. Mrs. Tefke resigned so she could concentrate on returning to Sjælland because of family commitments. The replacement for Mrs. Tefke was Mrs. Ulla Abbas, a competent Danish teacher with experience from international schools, and she is a native speaker (Danish). Unfortunately, Mrs. Skovmand was offered a full time job at the asylum center as of the 1st of January 2015. Consequently, the lessons of Mrs. Skovmand have been distributed among the school’s teachers (see below). I wish both Mrs. Tefke and Mrs. Skovmand all the best and give a warm welcome to Mrs. Abbas. We also knew that Mrs. Simonsen was going on maternity leave in January 2015 until February 2016. We needed a replacement for Mrs. Simonsen and had started the process in October with interviews and trial lessons. The candidate we found who met our requirements declined in the end because her substitute position was prolonged at another school. We worked fast and hard again and received a lot of applications from possible candidates. After interviews and trial lessons, we finally hired Mr. Troy La-Crette. Mr. La-Crette is a teacher from England who met our requirements, and who has been working with/teaching children at international schools in Stockholm and Kolding. The last big issue we have worked on and solved is that KS2U will not be split anymore but will have all lessons on their own. Now, with the beginning of the New Year, we have a fresh and stable team. However, to ensure the best possible quality and stability for students and staff, there will be some changes, which I will describe in the following: Mr. La-Crette: Class teacher of KS2L. His subjects will be English and Art in KS1, KS2L, KS2U and History and Religion in KS2L Mr. Manero: Takes DSL lessons History and religion in KS2U Religion KS4 1 Mrs. Castillo: Gives away Religion KS4 Takes Global Perspective KS4 Sdr. We are a small school with the special aim of having high standards. All our teachers have a good education from their respective countries and /or years of experience with students. I am looking forward to the next year with a vision of a school growing/evolving. This school is on its best way, to becoming a special place for everyone who chooses us. With these last words. I would like to wish you all a MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR! Best Wishes Henrik Kristensen Headmaster 2
