This class is open to any registered thoroughbred mare or gelding who has raced or trialed. Entry into this class is free for anyone competing in the show today and a $10.00 entry fee will be charged for those only wanting to enter the Off the Track Class. All entries are required to provide the horse’s registered racing name. Judging the Class: As far as judging goes we are not looking particularly for a hack or a hunter, or how well the horse is presented, handled or ridden, although obviously the better the horse is presented and conditioned the more appealing it may be! We are looking for the horse that has even movement, and strikes the judge as their ideal thoroughbred horse that has made a successful transition from track to pleasure horse. Basically the one that appeals to them the most, for whatever reasons only known to them, as the judge. Any injuries, scars or blemishes that may have been sustained during racing that are not impeding the horse’s movement or paces are generally overlooked in the Off the Track Event. Obviously as time will no doubt be an issue we are happy for the Off the Track class to be judged similar to a hack/hunter class – ie on the ring and then called in to work. We would like the work out to include a gallop and time permitting all the horses to be given a work out but obviously if there are big numbers that will not be possible. We want you to pick us the Winner and Runner up that will best represent this show in the WA state final. Once a horse has received a Winner or Runner/up at a qualifying event they cannot compete in another qualifier during the year. The winner of our state final will go up against the rest of Australia in a National OFF THE TRACK Final in 2015.
