Laboratory of Theoretical and Mathematical Physics (LTMF) Scientific director of the laboratory - Liakhovich Simon Leonidovich, postdoctorate degree holder in Physical and Mathematical Sciences, professor of the faculty of physics of TSU. Head of Laboratory - Sharapov Alexey, post-doctoral degree holder in Physical and Mathematical Sciences, professor of the faculty of physics of TSU. LTMF was established for conducting world-class research projects on a wide range of problems of modern quantum theory, starting with such fundamental areas as quantum field theory, the theory of elementary particles, gravity, cosmology, and ending with applied problems of solid state physics and materials science. In addition to the scientific research, laboratory ensures the implementation of university training programs in the area of modern quantum methods. The laboratory is a pilot project of the University and a basis for practices of international scientific cooperation in the field of fundamental research, international and national academic mobility. The main objectives of the laboratory • Conducting of world-class research projects on a wide range of areas of theoretical and mathematical physics, including modern quantum field theory, elementary particle physics, gravity, condensed-matter physics and materials science; • Strengthening human capacity of TSU by training highly qualified specialists, as well as attracting leading foreign specialists; • Providing diverse advice and expert support at the international level, including the examination of theses, scientific publications, research and cooperation projects with technology companies; • Developing the practice of international scientific cooperation in the area of fundamental research, international and national academic mobility. Expected Outcomes Research Complexes of new methods of construction, research and quantization of gauge theories that are relevant in the context of the development of modern high-energy physics. New knowledge concerning the structure and properties of the fundamental interactions, physical processes in semiconductor crystals and nanostructures. Russian and foreign partners In the general problems of quantum field theory and mathematical physics: Department of Theoretical Physics, Physical Institute RAS (Moscow) Free University of Brussels and Solvay Institute (Belgium) Laboratory of Theoretical High Energy Physics, Tokyo Metropolitan University (Japan) School of Mathematics, University of Manchester (UK). In the area of condensed matter physics Institute for Materials Testing, Materials Science and Strength of Materials (IMWF) the University of Stuttgart (Germany) EMAT, University of Antwerp (Netherlands) The Institute of Metal Research (China). In 2014, a group of employees of LTMF, specializing in elementary particle physics, became the members of international collaborations GlueX, working in a leading US Thomas Jefferson national laboratory (TJNAF. Newport News city) as a permanent member for conducting joint research projects on the structure of hadrons. In the same year signed a cooperation agreement with the Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics (BINP)
