Rules and Regulations of Open Stable
Horses must be well handled and tied to trailer, in a stall, or held by a lead at all times
Owners must ride their own horse, or find their own rider to present horse, if not a catch rider will be
available to hire ($20.00) to present your horse, she is not responsible for any injuries
Mel’s Equine Sales contract must be signed and mailed to Melanie Merpaw (contact me for address) or
handed in the day of the sale
ALL riders must be wearing helmets while riding
Absolutely no exchange of information between seller and buyer, confidentiality breach of the
contract, ALL sales MUST run through Mel’s Equine Sales, with commission of 10% off sold price
Any horses threatening the security of rider, spectators or other horses will be asked to leave
immediately
Any riders unfit to handle a horse will be asked to dismount and owner must find new rider to present
horse
A coach or the owner is permitted in the ring while presenting your horse
Each horse will have 10 min. to present their horse, suggest: walk, trot, canter (both directions) flying
lead changes (if able), jump (both directions), raise jumps until full capabilities
Jump crew will be in the arena and ready to raise jumps when told
Broke horses can also enter the free-jumping division to show jumping potential without rider
Water hose will be available but bring your own buckets and hay
Stalls are available to purchase for the day but are limited ($40.00), first come, first served
All owners and horses must sign in the day of the sale by 8am and attend the sellers meeting
From 8am – 10am the arena will be available to warm up, lunge or free lunge horses
Mel’s Equine Sales and Teaselwood Stables are NOT responsible for any injuries occurring on the day of
the sale to horse OR rider!





Entries
Registration Sheets preferred to be submitted before March 25th for proper preparation, late
entries will still be accepted
Registration Sheets can be e-mailed to mels.equines@hotmail.com , mailed to Melanie Merpaw
(contact me for address) or handed in the day of the sale
Must confirm your registration once arrived on the day of the sale
Registration Sheets must be filled out completely
All horses registered before March 25th will be added to Mel’s Equine Sales website
(www.melsequinesales.weebly.com) , attach pictures in e-mail
Division
Unbroke Horses: young stock, broodmares or unbroken horses
Free-jumping shoot or lunged to perform potential to buyers.
Ponies: miniature, small (up to 12.2hh), medium (12.3hh-13.2hh) and large (13.3hh-14.2hh)
10 min. to display abilities of pony, rail will be cleared for flat work and jumps will be set up off the rail.
Horses: All horses over 14.2hh
10 min. To display abilities of horse, rail will be cleared for flat work and jumps will be set up off the rail
