Young Entrepreneur Award 2015
– promoting the shapers of a sustainable maritime industry
The Young Entrepreneur Award by YoungShip International & NorShipping is open to nominees from all segments of the global maritime
industry. It will honor an under 40-year-old professional who has founded
a successful company that spearheads challenges or solutions in a new
way.
Background for the Award
Representing the largest and fastest growing organization for young professionals in the global maritime
industry, YoungShip is committed to support and inspire a generation of sustainability-focused industry
professionals. In 2011, we entered into cooperation with Nor-Shipping to strengthen the industry´s
attention towards the next generation, and promote young entrepreneurs who drive forward
environmental-friendly innovation and pave the way inspiring others to see the opportunities arising from
the industry’s current environmental challenges. The Young Entrepreneur Award is among only three
awards to be handed out at the Nor-Shipping Opening Conference on Tuesday 2 June 2015, the other two
being handed out by DNV GL and the UN´s International Maritime Organization.
Award criteria
Eligible candidates may be from any segment of the industry and located anywhere in the word but cannot
be over the age of 40 at the time of Nor-Shipping 2015. The award winner shall demonstrate excellence
within one or more of the following areas:
 Representing new concepts and solutions for existing or new industry challenges
 Offering technical or commercial innovative solutions
 Taking on the business of the industry in a new way, adapting it to an even more globalized world
in rapid change
 New logistical solutions, looking at new ways for the industry to become even more efficient
 Creating jobs within the maritime sector
 Taking on the environmental challenges of the industry, creating new solutions within technical,
operational and/or commercial areas
JURY / AWARD COMMITTEE
The jury consist of inspirational global leaders with sustainable and innovative focus, representing a
diversity of companies and segments, including; Elisabeth Grieg of Grieg Shipping Group, Andreas
Sohmen-Pao of BW Group, Roberto Giorgi of V.Ships and Peter Hinchliffe of International Chamber of
Shipping. The nomination period opens 20 May 2014 until 2 March 2015. Anyone who knows a qualified
successful entrepreneur is encouraged to nominate a candidate – this includes spouses, employees,
bankers, attorneys, public relations managers and, of course, the entrepreneur him or herself.

Nominations can be made by anyone within the international maritime community. You can nominate more than
one candidate, using separate forms. The jury´s decision will be based on the content of the received nominations,
so provide a detailed form including specific examples to increase your candidate´s chance to win. Additional
