Together we are hoping to explore the topic of spaces and places, community spaces and places held in common, conflicted and contested spaces, spaces that differ, clinical spaces and aesthetic spaces. We will engage delegates in making spaces, creating both physical and imagined places. Through presentations the conference will explore the social, cultural and political in relation to place and space. We will be seeking to understand the symbolism particular to space, and to explore the imagined spaces that maybe critical to the creative endeavours of therapists, patients and clients. We want delegates to bring their own questions and insights in relation to space and art 3 therapy to the conference where we hope they will find a place to communicate their understandings and develop thinking through further discussion and exploration. The conference is structured to facilitate working with diversity, with the plurality that characterizes art therapy, the arts therapies and the psychotherapies of today. Diversity will be held together through focused panel discussion, boundaried experiential groups, and the art therapy large group through which the conference as a whole will engage in visual and verbal dialogue. The movement between modes of experiential learning, presentation and verbal exploration, mirrors our teaching model and in this way we will provide delegates with a means to process the conference debate. Panel Speakers: Hayley Berman, Chris Wood, Patricia Fenner, Penny Best and Sally Skaife Small Experiential Group Conductors Kristen Catchpole, Diana Kagiafa, Susan Rudnik, Lisa Rimmer and Bruce Currie Social Dreaming Matrix Francesca La Nave and Caroline Frizell 4 We will be updating this description of the programme regularly as we agree on details with our panel speakers, workshop leaders and the organizing committee.
