Alive @ 4: This service is happening at 4pm, on Sunday 17th January, in St
Michael’s Rooms. There will be fun, fellowship, bible stories, activities,

FOSM Lunch This delicious lunch is happening on Thursday 21st January.
There is a sign-up sheet at the back of the church. Everyone is welcome to
come to this very sociable occasion, so do join us.
Church Magazine: We are interested in gathering ideas about the
magazine. As part of developing our communication with Framlingham and
Saxtead we believe it could reach further than it is and show what St
Michael’s is doing for different age ranges. If you have any thoughts or
ideas please let Ann Elliott (01728 724867) or Jeremy Schofield ( know
before the middle of the month.
Knitters and Stitchers: The date of the next meeting is Monday 18th
January at 2pm in church. We will be looking forward to spring and new

The Food Bank Donations are badly needed and your contributions are
very gratefully received. It is important that the items are well within the
sell-by dates. The bin is at the back of the church and any non-perishable

The Healing Team: Two members of the Healing Group will be present in
our Space For Grace after the 9.30 service today for anyone to share their
concerns, or doubts, fears or worries. It is done in complete confidence.
HELP! Janis Haerle would very much appreciate hearing from anyone who
could spare a wee bit of their precious time to become one of the folk who
work to keep the wonderful building that is St Michael’s clean and polished.

Collect: Eternal Father, who at the baptism of Jesus revealed him to
be your Son, anointing him with the Holy Spirit; grant to us, who are
born again by water and the Spirit, that we may be faithful to our

Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and forever. Amen
First Reading: Isaiah 43 v 1-7.
1 Thus says the LORD, he who created you, O Jacob, he who
formed you, O Israel: Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have
called you by name, you are mine. 2 When you pass through the
waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not
overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned,
and the flame shall not consume you. 3 For I am the LORD your
God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour. I give Egypt as your
ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in exchange for you. 4 Because you are
precious in my sight, and honoured, and I love you, I give people in

GOSPEL: Luke 3 v 15-17, 21-22
Hear the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Luke
Response (ALL): Glory to you O Lord.
In the wilderness John proclaimed a baptism of repentance. 15 As
the people were filled with expectation, and all were questioning in
their hearts concerning John, whether he might be the Messiah, 16
John answered all of them by saying, ‘I baptize you with water; but
one who is more powerful than I is coming; I am not worthy to untie
the thong of his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and
fire. 17 His winnowing-fork is in his hand, to clear his threshing-floor
and to gather the wheat into his granary; but the chaff he will burn
with unquenchable fire.’ 21 Now when all the people were baptized,
and when Jesus also had been baptized and was praying, the
heaven was opened, 22 and the Holy Spirit descended upon him in
Wednesday 13th January – 10.30am Holy Communion in the
Rectory.
