A Liturgy for Triads Welcome Sharing of hospitality. One person is chosen to lead the liturgy for the week. Worship Leader: The Lord be with you. All: And also with you. Leader: Let us pray. All: Almighty God, to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets are hid. Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy name, through Christ our Lord. Amen. The collect for the week may replace this prayer. Read a Psalm responsively, by whole verse. Leader: Glory to the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. All: As it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. AMEN. Songs of praise and prayers of adoration may follow. Word Leader: Let us pray. All: Blessed Lord, who caused all holy Scriptures to be written for our learning: grant us so to hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them, that we may embrace and ever hold fast the blessed hope of everlasting life, which you have given us in our Savior Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. Open the text you are studying. A leader may lead the Triad members through a study. Avoid spending too much or too little time on the content of the text. 1. Observation: freely make observations about the details of the text. Pay attention to the context, and to the type of writing (poetry, prose, law, history, wisdom). 2. Interpretation: What does this text teach us about God? What does this text teach us about ourselves? What does this text teach us about the kingdom of God? What thorny theological questions do we have for the Clergy? 3. Application: How should this change my life? How would this change our group? How did I practice/obey last week’s text since we studied it? Leader: Let us pray. All: Gracious father, let us be mastered by what we have studied, so that in these holy words we encounter Jesus Christ and are made like him. We now lay before you our sin, our suffering, and the circumstances of our life. By your Holy Spirit, transform us into the likeness of your Son, to the glory of your name. Amen. Beginning with the leader, each person discloses significant circumstances from their life: confessions (idols of the heart, deeply rooted or outwardly manifested sin, lies that need truth), burdens, or any other circumstances that are significant to the individual. Leader: In love, let us now encourage each other with God’s truth. Team responds by speaking and praying extemporaneously for the individual, offering Scriptures and Gospel truth to build up their inner person. If possible, the group should lay hands on the individual when praying for him/her. World Praying for God’s kingdom to come: including the conversion of unbelieving friends, the renewal of our neighborhoods, and the transformation of the city. Wrap-up Almighty God, Father of all mercies, we your unworthy servants give you humble thanks for all your goodness and loving-kindness to us and to all whom you have made. We bless you for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life; but above all for your immeasurable love in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ; for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory. And, we pray, give us such an awareness of your mercies, that with truly thankful hearts we may show forth your praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives, by giving up ourselves to your service, and by walking before you in holiness and righteousness all our days; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory throughout all ages. Amen.
