Dear Corpus Christi Preschool Parents:
I hope you are enjoying your summer so far. I am excited about the start of the
new school year. Our Corpus Christi faculty and staff will continue to provide the great
instruction and traditions that make this school such a wonderful place. We have a few
changes to our staff for the upcoming school year. Mrs. Melinda Gomes will be
teaching the half day/full day split 4’s class with Mrs. Pesce as her assistant. Mrs.
Shagufta Nande will be teaching our morning 4’s with Ms. Lucy as her assistant. We
have three new teachers as well. Ms. Silvia DeSousa will be teaching our 3 year old/4
year old split class with Mrs. Rosa Rosal as her assistant, Ms. Lorraine Fitzkee will teach the
2 year old classes with Ms. Patricia Kans as her assistant, and Mrs. Katie McNerney will be
our music teacher.
On Friday, August 28st at 9:15 a.m. (all 3 day and 5 day classes) and 10:15 a.m.
(all 2 day classes) we will host “Sneak a Peek” at preschool. You are invited to visit with
your student and spend an hour in the classroom so he or she can meet the teacher
and classmates. The students will receive their Corpus Christi book bags that day.
Please do not purchase back packs, as the students may only use the school provided
bags.

Extended day will continue to be offered this year from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. The
extended day registration form can be found on the Corpus Christi School website
under current families, and in both school offices. This form must be filled out and
returned to the main office by August 14th.
This year we will offer hot lunch through Smart Lunches. Parents can visit their
website and sign up for as many lunches a month as they would like. The price
depends on how often you order. Lunches may be added or changed up to two days
before. The lunch bite option is probably best for most preschoolers, otherwise a small
portion. The website is www.smartlunches.com. This program will start the week of
September 1st. Milk will still be offered to anyone who wishes to purchase it. Snacks are
given to all preschoolers at 10 a.m. and again at 3:00 p.m. , if here for extended day.
On Thursday August 6th we will have a new parent orientation at 9:00 a.m. and
again at 6:00 p.m. We will review first day procedures, forms, FACTS, PTO, and any
questions you may have. Please R.S.V.P. as to which session you will be attending by
August 3rd to sjeshow@corpuschristischool.org. These meetings are for adults only.
Unfortunately child care is not available for this meeting so please make other
arrangements.
On Wednesday August 26th at 5:30 p.m. the PTO will host a Welcome Back dessert
social at the Elementary Campus for all families. There will be tables set up in the gym
regarding extended day, hot lunch, volunteering, and joining school board, finance,
and enrollment management committees. All the teachers and the nurse will be there
as well.
The Back-to-School Night orientation for all parents will be held on Wednesday,
September 9th at 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. We ask that at least one parent attend this
important meeting, since this will be the time that our program and policies will be
explained and you will be able to visit the classroom and learn the specific details from
your student's teachers on classroom schedule and behavior policies. Child care will be
available, but you must pre-register by emailing sjeshow@corpuschristischool.org.
We will continue our family service program this year. The family service form will
be available on our website and in both school offices. All families are required to
participate in this program or pay for your required hours. More details will be sent
separately and will be available on the website or in either campus office. All family
members who want to participate in events in the classroom or in events where there is
direct contact with students must attend the Virtus class and complete the background
check paperwork. You can sign up for Virtus at www.virtus.org; the paperwork is
available in the main office at both campuses. If you have any questions about this
please contact me directly at: astich@corpuschristischool.org.
Class lists will be posted on the school doors beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday,
August 27th. Only your student’s first name will be listed. In the case of multiple names,
we will list the student’s first name along with the first initial of the last name (i.e. Daniel
A. or Daniel B.). For reasons of security, Corpus Christi will not post class lists on the school
website.
Every family should have received an email from our business office with
information about registering for our FACTS tuition payment program. All families must
be registered, have made their first payment, and cleared prior year financial
obligations, before students may attend school on the first day. If you have not yet
received this FACTS information or registered your student, please call the business
office at 703-820-7450 x5, as soon as possible.
The goal of Corpus Christi School is to instill in each student a love of God, a love
of learning and a love of neighbor. If at any time you have a question about their
progress toward this goal, please do not hesitate to email or call your student’s teacher.
The staff is already preparing for a busy and productive year. The teachers have many
exciting events planned to help your student love school, and each other. Know that
all of you will be in my prayers this summer, and throughout the coming school year.
