Build on your technical expertise in system engineering and logistics as part of the team developing the geological disposal facility for radioactive waste. This is a high profile cost engineering role within the Radioactive Waste Management Directorate. About us Dealing with the past. Protecting the future. The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) has been appointed by the Government to implement geological disposal for higher activity radioactive waste. Our Radioactive Waste Management Directorate (RWMD) is being developed into a wholly owned subsidiary and a nuclear Site Licence Company (SLC), which will progress this vital work. RWMD will develop a Geological Disposal Facility (GDF) and associated transport system. About the role Joining us at a critical stage, you’ll have the opportunity to help shape our forward plans. Specifically, you’ll develop RWMD’s capability to maintain an up to date lifetime cost estimate for the entire geological disposal facility programme. This includes developing and maintaining cost data for use in cost and logistics models and for the continued development of those models. You will be required to provide cost and related technical information both internally and externally as well as support the development of business cases and commercial strategies for the programme. About you While a background in the nuclear industry would be helpful, experience of cost estimation in a complex engineering environment and modelling logistics for complex projects and programmes is essential. You’ll be working closely with waste producers and owners, government and communities; therefore you will need excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Resource management skills are also vital. You will have a good first degree or equivalent in science or engineering and hold chartered membership status in a relevant professional institute.
