§§ Liberal education courses may be any non-science, non-mathematics courses. Courses must be taken for a
grade. They may not be taken pass-fail. Placement of these courses in the curriculum may be interchanged
with the Core courses (T&I, PCA, SW) listed in the preprofessional years.
SUMMER FOLLOWING P-1 YEAR: Students will engage in summer research and receive independent study
credits (5 credits) which will satisfy the professional elective requirements normally completed in the P-3 year.
This allows students to get started on their respective research projects. Independent studies are expected to
last the entire summer.

APPLICATION TO GRADUATE PROGRAM: Students apply for entry into the program in the spring semester
of their P-2 year. The application includes: official transcripts, GRE scores, a statement of purpose detailing
reasons for interest in pursuing a graduate degree, and three letters of recommendation. Students will also
need to provide the name of a mentor, and a brief description of the proposed thesis project. All applications are
submitted to the COPHS Research and Graduate Committee for review.

*** Prerequisite for Research Rotations: Grade of C or better in Research Track Basic Science Courses; All 3
research rotations are to be completed consecutively. A syllabus describing the rotation experience must be
submitted before a student is assigned into the rotation(s).
TOTAL CREDIT HOURS REQUIRED FOR GRADUATION: 232
The credit requirements for each separate degree are: 210 for the Pharm.D and 30 for the M.S. in
Pharmaceutical Sciences – for a total of 240 credits. Total number of credits for the dual degree
program equals 199 Pharm.D. credits and 33 graduate credits for a total of 232 credits. Fifteen credit
hours are being used to satisfy the degree requirements for both the Pharm.D and M.S. degrees.
