National Art School Selection Documentation Development and Alumni Coordinator March 2015 National Art School The National Art School (NAS) is Australia’s longest standing visual arts school, acknowledged nationally and internationally as a centre of excellence for the provision of higher education, artistic practice and scholarship. NAS is a registered Higher Education Provider housed in the historic walls of the old Darlinghurst Gaol in Sydney’s premier Arts precinct. This unique heritage campus provides spacious studio accommodation with dedicated teaching and workshop facilities; project and exhibition spaces including the NAS Gallery; specialised fine art library & learning resources; NAS Artist in Residence program; and Study Centre for Drawing. The School currently offers a range of accredited degree courses that embody the School’s education emphasis of studio-based learning supported by core study in the subjects of Drawing and Art History & Theory. These degree programs include the Bachelor of Fine Art, Bachelor of Fine Art (Honours) and Master of Fine Art (Research) with studio majors offered in the disciplines of Ceramics, Drawing, Painting, Photography, Printmaking and Sculpture. Currently there are up to 400 full time equivalent student enrolments in NAS degree programs. The school also conducts an extensive range of Short Course programs and specialist programs for High School students with over 1200 enrolments per year. In addition to an actively practicing establishment staff team, The National Art School employs over 80 practicing artists as visiting lecturers throughout its educational programs. Page 2 of 7 Position Details TITLE: Development and Alumni Coordinator BRIEF ROLE STATEMENT: The Development & Alumni Coordinator will be responsible for providing meticulous and thorough project and administrative support for the Philanthropy and Sponsorship programs, with particular emphasis on establishing and maintaining an active and productive alumni program. The Development & Alumni Coordinator will co-ordinate and communicate with alumni and organise alumni events and functions. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Reporting to the Philanthropy Manager POSITION TYPE: General, Full Time REMUNERATION: Higher Education Worker Level 5 with a salary range of $66,918 - $80,003 (inclusive of annual leave loading and 9.5% employer’s superannuation contribution). Page 3 of 7 Statement of Duties Provide day to day administrative support to the Philanthropy and Sponsorship Managers, including preparation of documents, proposals and reports, event coordination and servicing donors and sponsors. Initiate and build a program of communications and engagement with NAS alumni. Design, plan and implement alumni events including scheduling, lists, invitations, supplier liaison and budget administration. Develop, produce and update an event calendar ensuring coordination with all National Art School activities. Assist in the development of the forward planning of the National Art School alumni program including the creation of appropriate materials to increase alumni engagement. Engage the alumni community and raise awareness of alumni activities through the National Art School’s web site, e-mail, newsletter, social networks and event invitations. Assist in developing and tracking the alumni department budget. Maintain the alumni and donor database with accurate and up-to-date information on alumni, prospect and donor activity and interests. Perform other related duties as required. Page 4 of 7 Selection Criteria Tertiary qualification or relevant experience or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. Knowledge of trends in alumni relations, development or marketing. Event planning or a related field. High level written and oral communication skills, including the ability to summarise information concisely. Highly accurate with good attention to detail and efficient time management. Strong project management and organisational skills. High level computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and databases. Strong customer service orientation.
