Ohio FCCLA Regional Leadership Training November 2-8, 2013 1. Goals ● To provide students the opportunity to experience leadership training at the regional level and each student will be enrolled in National FCCLA Leadership Academy in the Ultimate Leader concentration. ● To provide opportunities for all members to participate in Career and College Readiness and Leadership courses. ● To provide Career Development Events/Skill Demonstration Events that are available only at National FCCLA Cluster Meeting. There will be only first, second and third place awards given in these events ○ Creed Speaking ( Junior- Grades 7-9 only) ○ Impromptu Speaking ( Junior- Grades 7-9 ) ( Senior- Grades 10-12) Workforce (Occupational) ○ Toys that Teach (Senior- Grades 10-12) Workforce (Occupational) ○ Culinary Food Art (Occupational only) ● To incorporate at least one STAR Events into fall competition Illustrated Talk will be only offered at Regional Leadership Training in Fall. ● To train students in meeting the service needs of their communities through National Outreach and State Outreach project 2. Regional meetings will be held in ● Regions 1 and 4- November 4- Penta Career Center ● Region 2- November 5- Ashland University ● Regions 3 ( no officers- will not be held this year) ● Regions 5 and 6- November 2- Indian Lake High School ● Regions 7 and 8- November 7- Location TBA ● Region 9- November 8- Butler Tech ● Region 10- November 6- Maysville Community College 3. Schedule depends on site but all sites will have the Leadership Academy courses College and Career Awareness Course 104, Leadership 103. National FCCLA Staff will present these courses. Format for the day: Format will vary with speakers etc. at each site. ● 9 am - Opening Ceremony, Roll, speaker? ● 9:30 am - 10:15 - Ultimate Leader CCR 104 Professionalism in Social Media and LEAD 203 Public Speaking ● 10:20 - 11:05 - Repeat Ultimate Leader CCR 104 Professionalism in Social Media and LEAD 203 Public Speaking ● 9:30 - Noon - Competitive Events - One School in charge of each event. ○ Impromptu Speaking - spectators welcome ○ Creed Speaking - spectators welcome ○ Culinary Food Art - spectators welcome ○ Toys that Teach - spectators welcome ○ Illustrated Talk - this event advances to state level competition, one per category per region. ● Noon - Lunch and mixer ● 1:00 - 1:45 pm - Repeat Ultimate Leader CCR 104 Professionalism in Social Media and LEAD 203 Public Speaking ● 1:00 - 3:00 - Continue with Competitive Events ( Speaker and other events) ● 3:00 pm Results announcement Other items of information STAR Events- Illustrated Talk (Junior, Senior and Occupational) Illustrated Talk will be offered only at Regional Leadership Training in the fall. Registration sites will open October 15. Registration will take place until October 22. ( one week only) Register at www.registermychapter.com/fccla/oh-region (your own region) This is only way you can advance to state and national competition. (Please note I will provide a template of a certificate. Medals and plaques will be awarded at Regional Competition sites in March. Score sheets may be return to participates after you make a copy to turn in to Regional Coordinator for STAR/Skill Events) Career Development Events/Skill Demonstration Events The following events will be offered: Fee per event is $3 per person- collected by Regional Leadership Training Creed SpeakingFollow rubric in Competitive Events Manual rules. Test will be provided by state adviser for each region. This is open to registered members as observers(no one else). This means that they must be registered for the Regional Leadership Training. This event is a junior category only grades 7-9 for Ohio. Allowed 2 per chapter. Impromptu SpeakingFollow rubric in Competitive Events Manual rules. Test will be provided by state adviser for each region. This is open to registered members as observers(no one else). This means that they must be registered for the Regional Leadership Training. This event is open to Junior (Grades 7-9) , Senior (Grades 10-12), and Occupational (Culinary, ECE TPA, Lodging) . Allowed 2 per chapter. The topics will be provided by state adviser. You will need note cards and holding area for this event. Toys that TeachFollow rubric in Competitive Events Manual rules. Test will be provided by state adviser for each region. This is open to registered members as observers(no one else). This means that they must be registered for the Regional Leadership Training. This event is open to Senior (Grades 10-12), and Occupational ( ECE and Teaching Professions) Allowed 2 per chapter. Culinary Food ArtFollow rubric in Competitive Events Manual rules. Test will be provided by state adviser for each region. This is open to registered members as observers (no one else). This means that they must be registered for the Regional Leadership Training. This event is open to Occupational (Culinary only) Allowed 3 per chapter Check to see what you need to bring for this competition. General Events do not proceed to state level. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place medals are awarded only. Students must register prior to Regional Leadership Training. Each region will send out registration forms. National FCCLA Leadership Academy- All Regional Leadership Training participants will be enrolled in the Leadership Academy. They will be eligible to take over 75 courses either online or at FCCLA events from State Leadership Conference to National Cluster Meeting to National Leadership Conference. All members completing the Ultimate Leader Leadership Academy concentration will be recognized at State Leadership Conference.
