Logo 16/09/15 Immediate Release Five Bromley College Students Graduate with First Class Business Degrees At a graduation ceremony in Canterbury Cathedral this week, five Bromley College students were presented with first class Business Degree certificates. In addition there were many who gained 2:1 awards. The degrees were awarded by Canterbury Christ Church University. All five mature students studied part-time at Bromley College. This highlights how degrees can fit around people’s lifestyle and commitments as well as providing the opportunity to study a high quality degree locally. All Bromley College degrees are run in partnership with both Canterbury Christ Church and Greenwich universities, who are the awarding bodies. This means when Bromley College students receive their degree certificates, they graduate at the university that awards their degree – alongside other university graduates. When studying for a degree at Bromley College, all undergraduates are taught by lecturers based in the College, with final year projects supervised by Canterbury Christ Church University lecturers. They study in smaller groups which results in a more personalised learning experience. Other advantages include flexibility to study a degree full or part-time, lower fees and the ability for many students to get a degree while living locally and working. The partnership with Canterbury Christ Church University means students benefit from a curriculum designed and validated by the University and, of course, graduation in Canterbury Cathedral. Sam Parrett, Principal of Bromley College attended the ceremony. She said: “I was delighted to catch up with the students and hear about how their careers had progressed as a result of gaining degrees. This is a fantastic tribute to our hard working staff as well as the commitment and dedication of our students and their families and employers who have supported them on this journey. “As the first year of students to graduate from Bromley College, in partnership with Canterbury Christ Church University, these graduates have blazed a trail for others to follow. By providing quality teaching and learning, students are given the resources and encouragement to progress with the help of Bromley College.” Chris Howland, one of the five graduates, said: “Bromley College has really helped to boost my career by offering me the opportunity to study on my doorstep at both a professional level and on a part time basis. Through a summer work placement the College arranged, I have been able to combine a full time job in marketing while studying at the same time – the best of the both worlds.” Liz Green, another Bromley College graduate, said: “I have really enjoyed my time studying at Bromley College and found that it offered me the support I needed to progress with my career. By being local, having smaller study groups and approachable staff, I was able to complete my work confidently and achieve my goal of a first in a welcoming environment with like minded people.” The College still has degree places available to start this month.
