SUMMARY The Housekeeping/Grounds Keeper is responsible for the cleanliness of the Keyser CBS (3-days a week) and Burlington Campus (2-days a week) office buildings and grounds as directed. EDUCATION A. Possess a high school diploma or GED (preferred). QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. A. Possess good interpersonal relationship skills with both youth and adults. B. Maintain professionalism at all time and practice appropriate work ethics. C. Be an acceptable role model for youth in values and lifestyles in keeping with those ascribed by Burlington. D. Must have a valid state issued driver’s license and submit to an intensive background investigation. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The duties and responsibilities of the Housekeeper/Grounds Keeper of Burlington United Methodist Family Services shall encompass at least the following: A. Maintain cleanliness of the kitchens, bathrooms, hallways, lobby, offices, conference room on the first floor and three separate offices including bathrooms and kitchens on the second floor (vacuum, dust, remove trash, sweep, mop). B. Clean, scour, and sanitize restrooms (scrub toilets, clean sinks, mirrors, refill soap dispensers, replace toilet paper and paper towels as needed, sweep and mop bathroom floors). C. Wipe off counter, table and appliances in kitchens; sweep and mop kitchen floors. D. Empty trash cans and deposit trash in the dumpster at the back of the building; place clean trash bags in trash cans. E. Shampoo carpets as needed in common areas. F. Buff or Polish floors on a monthly basis. G. Strip and wax floors on first floor annually. H. Outside areas: Remove snow from sidewalks and salt around the building in inclement weather, cut grass, trim bushes, etc.). I. Wash windows/power wash outside of building seasonally. J. Replace light bulbs inside and outside as needed including EXIT signs. K. Paint offices when needed. L. Maintain cleanliness of agency vehicles (washing outside of vehicle and cleaning/sweeping inside of vehicles) when weather permits. M. Limited driving position – Assist with getting agency vehicles to and from auto repair shop for maintenance and repairs. HOUSEKEEPING/GROUNDS KEEPER BUMFS, Inc. 1 N. O. P. Q. R. S. T. a. This position is defined as one that may require you to drive a motor vehicle as part of your daily work. This position does allow the employee to drive motor vehicles owned or leased by Burlington United Methodist Services, Inc. as needed. Inform supervisor when cleaning supplies are needed. Take care of tools and/or equipment utilized to carry out the duties of this position. Be responsible for housekeeping; including reporting maintenance needs to Supervisor, and follow up on completion of the task. Can support the mission and vision of Burlington United Methodist Family Services as evidenced by compliance with all organizational policies and procedures. Supports and facilitates positive interaction with others as evidenced by: professional maturity, respect for others, a team-centered approach, maintenance of confidential information, and an appreciation of a multicultural workplace. Exhibits effective communication skills including proper use of agency communication systems. Performs other duties that fall within the parameters of this position. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee will be required to lift, stand, sit, and/or walk for extended periods of time. Repetitive use of hands, wrists, and elbows will be required. This position will sometimes work in extreme weather conditions and potentially hazardous situations due to residential environment.
