Introduction
To Digi2al, the Cloudstore framework represents an excellent
opportunity to work with new public sector clients. Digi2al is an
integrated part of JHC, a UK software house with over 230 technical
specialists at development hubs in London, Birmingham and
Newcastle. JHC delivers a market-leading range of financial software,
consultancy and training services. JHC is best known for its FIGARO
product, a market-leading straight-through processing solution for the
stockbroking, wealth management and platform provider
communities. More than 35 major clients in the UK and Ireland use
our software to process 100,000 transactions per day on some £75
billion of financial assets. More than 1 million users are registered to
use the software over the web, with concurrent users in the thousands.
The software presents real-time trading information on stocks and
shares from multiple data sources and then performs settlement
transactions to a myriad of 3rd Party banking systems. We help our
Clients comply with the stringent regulatory and security expectations
of the Financial Services sector, whilst automating workflows to
reduce overheads. JHC also develop solutions for many other
enterprise functions, including; middleware, financial processing,
document management, user management and others.
Digi2al has brought together expertise of the public sector with some
of the UK’s best software development skills, honed in the most
demanding commercial sectors, to the benefit of government
departments. As a Government Procurement Service supplier the
team has a comprehensive range of skills across multiple development
platforms and methodologies. Digi2al’s services are made available to
Government Departments through the G-Cloud Lot 4.

Over recent months Digi2al has worked with many public sector
departments, a cohort of SME suppliers, the Cabinet Office and GDS to
understand the likely challenges facing departments. At Digi2al we
believe that our offering will be a great asset.
Digi2al can help to:
 Focus on the User – our DNA is founded on building products that are
award winning and have advanced features used by some of the most
demanding users via the web and mobile. Our marketplace is very
competitive and it is the product design that drives our success.
 Enable Digital by Default - our products deliver very high volume and
value financial transactions. The products are digital by default, used by
high numbers of users via web and mobile channels. They integrate to
non-digital processes for regulatory compliance and have advanced
financial features, such as anti money laundering and fraud prevention.
The products collect and process sensitive and confidential data for a large
number of consumers and have to be built to exacting standards.
 Use the right technology – we have to use the best possible technology for
the user need, be it open source or commercial, and create a solution that
is as open as possible. If we didn’t, our market appeal would be reduced.
Over 40 major customers integrate our products into their environments,
all of which are very different. We have developed our technology
expertise over the last 25 years, it is independent, and will be for many
years to come.
 Expertise in Agile – we have experience in running contemporary methods
alongside traditional ones, for large-scale projects, including web
development and legacy integration. We work closely with the IT
departments are our clients, many of whom are new to Agile and
apprehensive about the approach.
 Resource with capacity and technical flexibility – by using our 3
development hubs in Birmingham, London and Newcastle we can provide
expertise to help with updates and improvements to the service on a
regular basis. Our offices are fully connected, have excellent product

demonstration suites, and we can successfully manage projects across the
locations.
 Provide value for money – our rate card is competitive, and volume
discounts can be used to drive down total cost of ownership. Our approach
is to get the internal team competent as quickly as possible, and reduce
the dependency on senior consultants. Our lowest cost development hub
is in Newcastle, and by providing technical support from that location can
help departments with cost challenges.
 Integrated supplier management – we work with a strong community of
other SME suppliers, and are able to develop a best of breed solution very
quickly. Because the relationships are based on an on-going relationship,
Digi2al can lead a group of suppliers, removing the time intensive
procurement and commercial workload from the client.
Moving to Cloud Services
However compelling the idea of cloud may be, the reality is very
different, especially for existing systems. One of the main blockers in
rolling out enterprise clouds is the complex interdependency of the
systems involved. Therefore, it could be your existing ICT estates
holding you back from cloud adoption, if they are too complex to
migrate into the cloud. Critically the legacy systems offer the greatest
benefits; cost savings, reliability, lifespan, business intelligence and
user need. The risks and costs of re-developing or migrating the legacy
systems are often to large. Digi2al are experts in the complex systems
engineering required to run a complementary cloud and legacy
strategy. Our Specialist Cloud Services are designed to support the
design and development of new systems, along with the migration and
integration of legacy systems.
