Entertainment Tonight! Gala at Cotuit Center for the Arts

Entertainment Tonight! 2014, a gala fundraiser for Cotuit Center for the Arts, will be held Saturday,

September 13, from 6 to 11 PM, at the Center. The festive event will feature live performances from the year’s theatrical performances, a feast of hors d’oeuvres, a full-service bar, live and silent auctions, a VIP lounge, and dancing to rock & roll with the Rip-It-Ups.

“To celebrate the 5th year of Entertainment Tonight!, our premiere fundraising event of the year, we decided to mix it up with a new date, a new time, and a new place for the Silent Auction,” said David

Kuehn, executive director of the arts center. The new date, September 13, replaces the mid-summer date, which can be a busy time of year.

“We are also offering a new Exclusive Raffle,” Kuehn said. “Only 100 tickets will be sold, and the winner will receive a spectacular trip for two to one of three exciting locations: Sonoma Valley,

California; Los Cabos, Mexico; or Santa Fe, New Mexico. It will be the party of the year—a night to remember!”

The evening begins at 6 PM under the tent, where jazz and drinks accompany the Silent Auction.

Guests are invited to stroll around and bid on the many items offered for sale. Local businesses and friends of the center have donated such items as a sail on an America’s Cup yacht in San Diego, a hot air balloon ride, and lots of great art by local artists.

In the Gallery, guests may enjoy a Signature Cocktail, munch on crudités, and learn about the Live

Auction items that will be up for bidding later in the evening. Items to be bid on include an African

Photo Safari, exciting dinner parties, and a private movie night for you and your friends at the Center.

Tickets for the Exclusive Raffle will also be available in the Gallery. Only 100 tickets will be sold, at

$100 each. The winner will have a choice of three impressive trips: a four-night stay at Fairmont

Sonoma Mission Inn and Spa in Sonoma Valley, California, including an intimate wine-making seminar, tours and wine tasting at local vineyards, and more; a five-night stay at Hyatt Ziva overlooking the Sea of Cortez in Los Cabos, Mexico, including a diverse culinary experience at six specialty restaurants, five pools, tennis, water sports, nightly entertainment, and more; or a fournight stay at The Residences at El Corazon de Santa Fe, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, amid a wide variety of art, entertainment, culture resources, including passes to the Georgia O’Keefe Museum, as well as hiking, biking, fishing, rafting, and skiing close by.

All packages include round-trip airfare and many extras.

The Upper Gallery will be transformed into the VIP Lounge, where chilled champagne and succulent oysters will be provided by Dave Ryan, as guests relax in comfort.

On the Main Stage, singers, dancers, musicians, and other artists will entertain the audience.

The Rip-It-Ups follow with high-energy music to keep everyone dancing far into the night. Popular throughout the Cape since they came together in 2006, The Rip-It-Ups play traditional rock & roll band with a generous infusion of blues, rockabilly, country jazz and soul. Fronted by vocalist Jodi

Birchall, the high-energy band features Kami Lyle on trumpet, vocals and percussion; Joey

Spampinato on bass and vocals, Tad Price on lead and rhythm guitars and vocals; Paul Dinsmore on trumpet and vocals, and Gary Lock on rhythm and lead guitars and vocals.

General admission is $75 per person and includes admission to the Silent Auction and the theatrical productions in the main stage area, participation in the Live Auction, and dancing to the tunes of the

Rip-It-Ups.

VIP admission is $100 per person and includes general admission, plus access to the Upper Gallery

VIP Lounge. Guests will enjoy oysters, champagne, and crudités, and be treated as VIPs by the wait staff.

Exclusive Seating Package admission is $200 per person and includes general admission, VIP Lounge access, preferred parking, reserved up-front seating, dedicated wait staff, and two bottles of wine for the table.

Cotuit Center for the Arts is an award-winning, dynamic arts and cultural center that provides free and paid programming throughout the year, including art exhibits, theatrical productions, musical events, educational programs, and numerous other events. Over 30,000 people attend events at the center each year.

Ticket sales, class tuitions, facility rentals, and concessions generate less than half the operating expenses of the center. To make up the shortfall, the center relies on donations and fundraising events, including the annual Gala, which not only supports the center, but offers an evening of fun, music, theater, and entertainment with friends.
