Indiana Working for WASH Briefing Prepared for ________________________ Improving Access to Clean Water Is at the Top of Americans’ Global Health Priorities People in the state of Indiana are leading the effort to solve the global safe drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) challenge. There are numerous faith-based, civic, and academic initiatives for WASH underway throughout the state. The top programs in the state include: a) Fountains of Hope Founder and CEO Bill Farrar designed a unique water purifying system that can treat up to 55 gallons of water per minute. b) A student at the University of Indiana raised $15,810 for implementing clean water systems and reduced the burden of water-related illnesses in Honduras. c) Students in the Indiana University Global Brigades Chapter, Bloomington implemented multiple programs that supported community WASH projects in Honduras, Ghana, and Panama for 130,000 people.
