Homegroup ……………… PART ONE – RESEARCH INQUIRY – PART ONE Exemplary Accomplished 4 5 Question Development The student has formulated effective ‘fat’ questions appropriate to the topi Research The student has independently accessed a high level of information & taken effective notes Class Time & On Task Bibliography & Grid Completion Developing Beginning 3 2 The student has some appropriate ‘fat’ questions. All questions are related to the topic The student has independently accessed information & has taken notes which are mostly in their own words. The student has questions however most are not ‘fat’ questions. The student has not accessed a range of resources & they have not demonstrated note taking skills. Highly developed and well organised piece Points are linked in a cohesive structure Well developed and coherent piece Ideas are tightly linked Effective use of paragraphs and complex sentences The student has accessed a limited range of resources and with assistance they have found information. Some notes are not in their own words. Definite structure, organisation is evident Ideas clearly linked Accurate paragraphing The student’s grid is completed correctly for the most part & the bibliography is completed accurately. Some bibliographic details are not accurately done and the students grid is missing some detail. The grid is incomplete and the bibliography is not evident. The student has included all the correct bibliographic details & have produced a high quality research grid All questions are considered to be ‘skinny’ questions. Basic structure with some evidence of organisation Some attempt at paragraphing PART TWO – ANCIENT CIVILISATION PROJECT – PART TWO (CREATIVE / INFORMATIVE WRITING) Exemplary Knowledge of Civilisation Managing Your Learning Structure Presentation and Effort TOTAL SCORE 5 Excellent Developing 4 Beginning 3 2 Incorporated research to a reasonable standard More research required Student has sought assistance and has participated in a process where they checked in with the teacher. Use of time has been excellent Project is clearly defined, described and presented. Student has sought some assistance and has participated in some planning is evident. Has been reminded to stay on task only 1-2 times. More thought needed to be put into the planning process. Found it difficult to stay on track and use of time could have been better. No evidence of managing their learning effectively. Little use of class time to work on project. Most parts of the project are well organised and some development is evident. Project shows some organisation but needs further development Very good presentation with a clear message reflecting their inquiry Satisfactory presentation that needs a little more clarity in some areas. Project shows little effort at development and the message is lost. Standard presentation that needs improvement. Excellent presentation of project clearly an effort above Year 7 standard. /40 SCORE FOR EFFORT /10 ABOVE EXPECTED STANDARD 40-37 Accomplished Incorporated research to a good standard Excellent incorporation of research SCORE FOR WORKING INDEPENDANTLY /10 AT EXPECTED STANDARD 36-33 Very Good BELOW EXPECTED STANDARD 32-29 28-25 24-20 Good Satisfactory Needs Improvement COMMENT (teacher to comment tasks as well as effort & ability of student to work independently) 19-0 Unsatisfactory STUDENT SELEF EVALUATION – ANCIENT CIVILISATIONS PROJECT/INQUIRY I can record bibliographic details I can locate information using contents and index I can take effective notes and my notes are organised I can stay on task when I am researching a topic I understand my areas of intelligence (MI’s) I am able to plan my work to achieve a good result What have you enjoyed the most about the assignment that you have just completed? What is one area that you feel you would like to improve on next time? What is one change you would like to see made to this assignment?
