Connection with village? Alick’s father – Samuel Ware - was born and lived in Martin until after Alick’s death - he died in Sheffield in 1939. In 1891 Samuel was living with his parents-in-law at 4 Tongs Buildings, Martin. His occupation is given as boatman (barge). Alick’s mother – Martha Ware nee Willson was born and lived in Martin. Samuel and Martha are buried in Martin churchyard. Alick’s step-mother – Sarah Ware nee Slack – was born in Metheringham. She is buried in Martin church yard.
