Hello everybody! It was nice to see so many of you at Locust Grove, our last official walk of the season. Thank you to Cynthia Fisher our walk leader there-as well as to all of you who have helped lead walks this past season - Jill Weiss, Barbara Plume, Kelly Sinclair, Gerry and Carol MacDonald. Thank you David Work for your leadership and lending your expertise at several walks. Thanks to Elmer LeSeur for your help at Locust Grove. While there is still more time to enjoy outside (and I hope you are), the club is focusing on our indoor activities the rest of the year. We are now planning our annual dinner and events for the fall and winter months. In order to meet your needs, we will be seeking feedback about your interests, and the best time for meetings, as we plan upcoming lectures and other activities. I have a few announcements as follows..... SAVE THE DATE: Sunday, October 27th, 4-7pm for our annual pot luck dinner and meeting. We will gather at the Friends Meeting House in Poughkeepsie. FEAST AND FUN NOT TO BE MISSED. Jill Weiss will be in charge of mycophagy and we are in for some treats. Stay tuned. Details about the dinner will follow... I want to share a card that Bill Bakaitis has sent to the club expressing his gratitude for our thoughts and the donation sent in memory of his late wife, Leslie Land. I will bring the card to the dinner so that you can read Bill's words. Openings: The club needs volunteers for the position of walks coordinator and membership chairperson. Please think about offering your time for these positions for the coming year. Barbara Plume, our Vice President, has offered to assist anybody who volunteers as walks coordinator. Jill Weiss has held this position for several years. We are grateful to her for all that she has done...and glad to hear that she plans to continue to lead some walks for us next year. Carol MacDonald has been our Membership Chairperson for several years. Carol has generously stayed on this year while we look for a replacement. Thank you, Carol. Look for our newly redesigned website in the near future. The club thanks Paolo Vidali who is finishing (the much needed) re-design our website. We will now be able to bring you up to date information about our club activities, announcements and topics of interest. Paolo gave the club a very generous discount and we thank him. Thanks to Ira Weiss who kept our site going as over the past few years and answered questions from readers, Jill Weiss who also assisted with responses, and Stefan Lisowski who has given us direction and assistance as we looked to re-design our website. We are in the process of looking for a new webmaster. I look forward to seeing everybody at our (not to be missed!) dinner and many wonderful lectures, movies and workshops to come...stay tuned.....
