O-O Barrel Horses Philip & Andrea Huft PO Box 871, 46 Sandstone Road Baker, MT 59313 406-978-2302 obarobarrelhorses@hotmail.com Dear Mare Owner, Thank you for your interest in breeding to our stallion, Frenchmans Elvis. Enclosed is a shipped semen and/or on site AI contract and mare approval form that you have requested. Please take the time to read the contract and fill out the mare approval form. Our 2016 breeding season is shaping up to be a great one. We will be again limiting Frenchmans Elvis’ book so in order to guarantee a spot, you will need to provide the following: 1. A completed Mare Approval Form. Subject to approval by O-O Barrel Horses. 2. A completed and signed Shipped Semen or On Site AI breeding contract. 3. A copy of mare’s registration papers, front and back. 4. Non-refundable booking fee of $150. No spot will be saved until all four items are received. You are welcome to complete and send us the Mare Approval Form beforehand to make sure mare is approved or, you can send everything in at once. If for some reason, O-O Barrel Horses does not approve the mare, the booking fee will be returned to you and contract will be null and void. We do our best for our clients to help them get their mare in foal. Breeding with cooled, shipped semen is very successful; however it requires intensive mare management with perfect timing. We highly recommend that you talk to your veterinarian to know their experience with ultrasounding mares and cooled semen protocols. Please have your vet stay in contact with us as they follow your mare through her heat cycles and report her palpation/ultrasound checks to us. This will help us to manage and coordinate shipped semen shipments. Please DO NOT wait until the day before the mare is ovulating to contact us for a shipment. We have found that open communication between us, the veterinarian and mare owner have made things flow much more smoothly and works best for everyone involved. Semen orders must be made by your veterinarian by NOON the day prior to collection. We collect on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday ONLY. Please also have your vet complete and return the paperwork that is sent with the semen. It is important for us to know when your mare ovulated and when the mare was bred. It is highly recommended that the mare be ultrasounded 14-16 days post ovulation to confirm a pregnancy. Please do not wait on this pregnancy check and let us know if a pregnancy is confirmed or not. If we are not informed of pregnancy status within 30 days post service, a $150 re-breed fee will be due before we will ship semen to the mare again. To keep everyone informed, please give your vet a copy of your shipped semen contract or shipped semen quick list page so that they know and understand the time frame they have to work in as well as have our contact information handy when needing to request semen. Please note that semen will be sent in either an Equitainer or Equine Express container. Shipping containers MUST be returned to us within 7 days or you will be billed for the value of the container. We hope that this letter along with the contract will answer most of your questions and give you a good guideline, however if you have any questions or concerns, please always feel free to contact us. We have found that open communication is never a bad thing. Thank you again for your interest in our stallion and we look forward to working with you! Here’s to a successful breeding season!
