Mix/Match/Freeze
Addition Properties Game
Directions: Laminate and cut out the addition problems and properties on the following
pages. There are 20 pairs so up to 40 students may play. Take pairs of cards out as needed
for your class.
MIX:
Distribute one card to each student (either the left card that has an addition
problem or the right card that has the missing number with an addition property
(Zero Property, Commutative Property, or Associative Property).
MATCH:
Tell students to walk around, without talking, and find their match!
FREEZE:

room (or sit together at their desks). Review the pairs as students finish.
MIX AGAIN! When every student has found their match, tell students to trade cards
with three other people. Begin again!
