IB Coordinator/Instructional Facilitator IB Coordinator: Coordinates the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) for assigned Middle School. Provides for the instruction of students by developing, selecting, and improving instructional plans and materials to meet the goals of the instructional program. The School Based MYP Coordinator for middle school is a full-time, non-teaching position. Job Duties and Responsibilities (These examples are illustrative and not all-inclusive): Coordinates the Middle Years Programme for assigned school. Supports the implementation of the IB continuum and the IB PYP, MYP, and DP Coordinators. Communicates with school administrators, the district IB office, partner schools and other offices as needed. Adheres to all IB regulations and procedures. Knowledge of all regulations for the IB MYP assessments. Assists assigned school, and district IB programme, through the monitoring of assessment process from registration, submission of materials, and professional development. Facilitates meetings and professional development for all teachers in the program, models effective instructional strategies in and out of the classroom, and promotes a collaborative culture. Facilitates the collaborative planning process and monitors that such planning is taking place; informs administration and IB office if departments are not in compliance. Enables teachers to plan units of instruction, create final assessments and rubrics, and reflect on the units with students and colleagues. Assists teachers find interdisciplinary curricular connections and encourages teacher collaboration in writing interdisciplinary MYP units Promotes enrichment/extension activities that support international mindedness and service to others Supports the Personal Project by making faculty, administration, parents and students aware of its importance and the skills necessary to complete a PP, beginning with Year 1 students Recruits new students to the program and is responsible for managing and assisting in the student application process for the school. Monitors student achievement for students in the program, facilitates support services where appropriate, and serves as a mentor for students and conferences with parents. Gathers data and maintains accurate records including completed units with supporting materials and samples and work portfolios for students in the program. Provides leadership to the MYP team in the school and disseminates pertinent MYP information to colleagues in the program. Coordinates with the IB Office to provide additional staff development and makes practical arrangements for IB Americas recognized training for teachers and administrators. Serves on various school and IB district committees, attends IB regional meetings and trainings. Stays current with trends, research, and methodology in instructional techniques, technology, multicultural content, problem solving and interdisciplinary connections. Plans and facilitates events, student, parent, and community meetings and information sessions that promotes awareness of the IB program during and outside the instructional day. Provides leadership to the MYP team in the school and keeps faculty and administration informed on IB matters related to MYP and on all new/revised MYP publications Performs other duties as assigned. Instructional Facilitator: Primary responsibility is as trainer, coach, and support for teachers through onsite professional development using Professional Learning Communities (PLC) model. Specific Duties and Responsibilities: Middle School experience with Common Core Standards Strong literacy knowledge and skills Experience and knowledge of the Rtl process Work with teachers to ensure alignment of essential curriculum and instructional strategies to the Common Core Standards Provide coaching and support to empower teachers as leaders Co-teach and model lessons in classrooms Provide and model differentiation strategies Work with individual/small groups of students to close gaps Support Beginning Teachers and their Mentors through monthly professional development and ongoing coaching and classroom support Continually research and share effective instructional strategies according to teacher and student needs Coach/co-facilitate collaborative teams/PLCs as they use formative assessments and data to drive instructional planning Coach/support use of formative assessments Assist with data analysis to drive instructional planning Coach and support the work of SIT and goal teams Coach and support teachers as they help students to take ownership of their own learning Recognize key elements of Continuous Classroom Improvement to help teachers make connections between their current practice and the innovative and creative ways PDSA can impact learning in a classroom. Continuously learn as a part of the COMPASS collaborative team/PLC Facilitate professional development for the district and on early release days or for other school initiatives as needed Performs other duties as assigned. Job Qualifications: Hold or eligible for professional certificate as issued by the North Carolina State Department of Education appropriate to area of assignment. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, advanced degree preferred. At least 5 years’ experience with the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme highly desirable. At least 5 years’ successful classroom teaching experience, preferably in an IB designated school. Knowledge of school organization, goals, and objectives with special emphasis on teaching techniques and successful strategies. Ability to lead a team and build a collaborative culture. Knowledge of materials and current trends/research in field of specialization. Excellent oral and written communication. Ability to effectively communicate with diverse communities and effectively work with diverse populations. Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications (e.g. Microsoft Office SuiteWord, Excel, Outlook, and/or PowerPoint preferred)
